Regarding replacement components, I had the experience that the focusrite support is incredibly helpful, even outside of warranty. My 2i2 2nd gen has a scratchy potentiometer for the monitor output. I filled out a spare parts enquiry and described my issue on the focusrite website and had a replacement potentiometer free of charge within 3 business days.

I have the same Audio Interface, and this is _really_ helpful, thanks! It does seem to be an issue with this model. Just one bit of advice to people though is _always_ check and make sure the issue is that actual hardware before opening it, for one an unfortunately large number of 3.5mm converters I have bought have proved to be pretty shoddy quality, and for two, headphone jacks take a lot of abuse, check the soldering inside that, if jiggling the lead affects stereo/mono glitching etc, it could be simply a case of cutting off your old Headphone jack and soldering in a new one. I actually ended up buying headphones that came with 6.35 as standard just because I hoped it would provide less leverage on the mount itself. The Beyerdynamic DT 770 comes with several swappable leads which makes them more flexible for the way I work.

En mi caso no se me cayó ni rompió. Tampoco una mala configuración en un programa. Sino que hice una mala conexión de la salida de auriculares a un viejo amplificador de guitarra por desconocimiento y guiándome de un tutorial de internet.

Did not this switch left and right channels? You need to cross the wires if you are flipping it like this.

Omg I have this problem with mine as well but I don't have soldering tools. I'm not much of an electronics aficionado. Is this a problem that just comes with this model ? I bought mine about two years ago, wondering if Focusrite will fix or replace mine as I don't trust my skills to do what you just demo'd on this video, but thanks for explaining the problem

Hey Tanner, nice video. I've got a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 3rd gen audio interface that doesn't work. It powers on and has all the LEDs working properly but my computer doesn't detect it. I've already discarded it being a software/drivers and a USB cable issue. This started happening after a power surge and I believe the USB-C connection or something related was damaged. What do you think could be the problem? Any tips? Thank you!
@capsonmonson61832 жыл бұрын
Change the usb port on the COMPUTER. Either the metal is not touching or its burnt out. Test your interface on a few different computers to see if the port needs to be changed for sure. I hope this helps

Dear Tanner, my 4i4 is not detected by the computer, Always worked a wonder, I tryed with different cable/ port on my computer, I tryed to use it with another computer...when plugged in, the input 1 on the front light up red on instrument briefly, and when plugged in and pressed the 48 v phantom power button, it lights up... but not more than that... Is it possible that input socket 1 is broken and in case replace it?

Try opening it up, then holding the soldering iron to the pins where the USB port connects to the computer. This should reflow the solder and potentially fix your problem. Similar to this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGLdoZVqedipp8k

Did you see a fuse inside anywhere???? I was hoping I’d find a fuse. In any event, any idea if this is fixable without sending it into Focusrite???
@TannerTech3 жыл бұрын
Perhaps, was the wall wart the wrong voltage, or wrong polarity, or both? I'm not sure what model you have, the one I used runs solely off USB power.
@danevertt32103 жыл бұрын
@@TannerTech yea I have that unit too. I also have the same brand, some kind, but it’s bigger and had 6 inputs and outputs instead of 1 or 2. It required a wall wart. I had this SAME issue. my mic did not work. I uploaded and deleted all of my software, pro tools, albeton, etc many times, I fought with London england for making a piece of crap and NOW, I pushed the button 48 v right beside the mic and I got sound. DOn't buy this companies interface, the reason mine stopped working was because I watched some movie that wanted to silence my mic; never again, PUSh the 48 v button by your mic. that is what fixed mine.
