The part that I liked most in your video is that your wife participated in the fix. She even took the initiative by herself using the shavings for the other hole while you weren't there. Keep doing things like that together and your relationship will last forever. The only downfall is she'll start catching more fish than you do. That's just how it works out for some reason. Thanks for the video brother.

My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. kzbin.infoUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

Next time you patch a kayak... Use the end of the screwdriver handle to smooth out your patches. For holes and cracks. Lay a piece of aluminum window screen, heat it and press it down along the sides with the screwdriver handle. Then cover the screen with more plastic blending with the handle. Press lightly and twist. Hope this helps! EDITED BONUS TIP: Next time you're at Mariner sails or Austin Canoe & Kayak...Any kayak shop, ask them for a couple pieces of HDPE. LITTLE TYKES & PLAYSCHOOL toys like the chairs, outdoor play sets, baby beds etc. come in many colors and are made of thick HDPE. Look for them on bulk trash pick up times when they get thrown out. If you're interested, I have several kayak restoration videos on my channel... I use many different methods for patching because no 2 patches are the same.

@@flyluzfly leave the dust from sanding in place and hit it with a heat gun on the highest setting just till you see the surface get shiny and keep the heat gun moving! It only takes a few seconds.
@anthonypoole69016 жыл бұрын
If you keep your heat gun close to the repair spot as you're heating up your plastic when you lay it down it will actually bond with the plastic better.. a method I use for.larger real holes Is the melted cheese method. Lay it over the hole heat it until it sinks inside. The pull the original material over the fillerand basically weld it back together for a solid fix.

Home Depot bucket would have been great color for this. Looks a bit orange than yellow. Also, a scraper might be better than a screw driver. Very helpful though.

Hobie also sales a kit with plastic sticks and a soldering iron to patch their kayaks. Also when rigging your kayak, save the shavings from all the holes you drill. You can use that to patch holes. I have a zip lock bag full of shavings and have used a lot of it to fill in holes left from removing factory hardware. It looks like nothing was ever there.

It is bullshit! Plastic is not a metal and does not conduct electricity. When you head and melt plastic, an electrical charge will be collected on the surface. Thiis effect is called "surface polarization".
