Have this exact nail gun and it's been one of my most reliable tools with just simple maintenance they were built to last, it just keeps going. Keeping them clean and lubed is the key to longevity.

Yep, Dean, I will be pulling apart an old passlode just like you. Screws and bolts will go flyin through the air to all corners of my bench, some will even fall on the floor, or get wedged in places I won't be able to find them. But it won't matter a hoot, because once its in pieces it will be stayin in pieces, just long enough to put them all in a big plastic shopping bag, because there's no way I'm goin to remember how to put it all back together. Yep pulling it apart is easy, it's the putting it back together that's hard. You just make it "look" so easy.

I have the same model, after it stopped firing I found the little roller on the switch was not being pushed down enough , could have the roller just worn, I temporary fixed by putting a very thin piece of plastic, shim, between the roller and the switch to make the lug on the carriage push it down enough.

No this is a common faulty with every paslode first fix gun. From the original im350/90 to the im350+. For the last 20 years we gave been fixing this Simply bend the roller a up slightly. Every gun has this roller slightly bent. But it's a well known and easy fix.

Haven’t seen all your videos but finally saw one where you explained the reasoning to your throwing the parts around on your table. Would it still not be more efficient to have a bit more order to it, like having small trays at the end of the table to throw the parts more ordered, either from disassembly order, or parts order like screws, O rings, etc.. I understand for you, reassembling these tools is as easy as assembling a cheese burger for most of us, but even for a cheese burger, it would be quicker to make, to have the mince, buns, cheese, spices, etc., each in its own place
@philgallagher17 ай бұрын
@@aydenandchase7220Given Dean's skill level I believe it would be SLOWER if he had to work out which bin or tray to put the individual parts in. As he said, he knows exactly where everything is when he is ready to rebuild so it would take him longer to find them if they were all in separate places. He has developed his work process over many years and thousands of machines.

Hi Dean. Love your videos and you have inspired me to try and get my brothers old 1st and 2nd fix paslode guns going again. We bought a new genuine battery and gas canisters and I have torn down and serviced the 1st fix and it works beautifully. The 2nd fix gun fuel door keeps popping open randomly after shooting it. This was the reason why it was taken out of service originally. Any advice would be great. Thanks from 🇦🇺

Hello Dean I've a question, What is the reason the fuel door won't close. Which in turn causes the gun not to fire ?

Dean, I have a suggestion. In order to make it possible for anybody to find repair instruction for a tool of a particular make and model you should number your videos and publish a listing of the machines that are serviced in each video.

G'day again Dean. Going OK with my IM250A Li strip down and service. Come up against an issue I'm hoping you can help with. The square(ish) gasket/seal that sandwiches between the main body of the cylinder and finned cap of the combustion chamber... It seems to have gotten bigger and for the life of me I can't get it to sit in the groove for reassembly. This part is not listed as available here, only the entire cylinder assembly. Have you ever come across this? Any tips? Cheers.
@johndalessandro64337 ай бұрын
Dean, how long have you been repairing power tools and what kind of oil did you use for lubrication? Was it similar to 3 in 1 oil? Ty so much for the videos!
@lukefenech5 ай бұрын
G'day Dean, love your work. I'm over in Australia and I just bought a used IM250A Li second nailer. It works well but there is no service agent in the town I live in so I want to pull this one down, service and clean it and consider getting into working on them for other people. Any tips on this model? Things to look out for in particular? I've bought a service kit(genuine) and Paslode oil. Aparrently there's a new grease that Paslode are recommending instead of the oil.. Any thoughts on this? Cheers in advance mate.
@deandohertygreaser5 ай бұрын
I'm sticking to the oil for now, haven't seen the grease yet. When dismantling any gun. After you remove the top half and before you service it. Always test the motor and spark. Put a battery in and pull the 2 switches. If the motor or spark dont work, the service will not fix it and you will need to buy either a spark unit, moulded board of motor. Saves wasting time servicing a gun that the customer may not want to pay to fix. Also buy a few cheap used guns, body only, so you have most of the spare you need.

@@deandohertygreaser Cheers Dean. I appreciate the info. The design of these things is pretty fascinating. On a side-note... Finding long series imperial quick change hex drivers is a challenge. Wish they'd use metric. Regards, Luke
