The welding repair looks good. It's rare to find an older chevrolet that doesn't have a lot of rust. The cab corners are a common rust spot. The good thing is that there are lots of repair panels available.

Great work in all your recent floor pan replacements! Its hard, nasty work (and I understand why your tired of doing it) but you’ve added a lot of life to both the Valiant and the truck! In my part of the world, we don’t really have mice ... we have little lizards! They get into your garage, just like mice; poo on everything, just like mice; but are not destructive like mice.

I'll trade you 3 mice for a Lizard. The main issue is that I keep my birdseed sealed up in containers in the garage. They can't get to it but they smell it, so they are constantly foraging in there to see if I spilled something.

It has been a long time since I welded up some good old winter beater sheet metal. Now it's when I do an exhaust. I still like stick welding with 3/32 stainless and oxy acetylene with a coat hanger.

Good work Tyler. Give your cowling a water test- There is some seam sealer in there that dries out, and lets water create holes by the fuse box and above the heater box. (Flex seal will get in there). Also, there is a foam seal around the a/c recirc door on the right kick panel. Make sure no water is getting in there, between the panel and skin of the truck.

What can you do if the entire cab is rotten, im asking because I have a suzuki samurai jx and everything works, but the cab is pretty much see through, on the passenger side the whole side is completely rotted out and I really wanna fix it and I can't find another cab anywhere

How far is "anywhere"? My neighbor just sold one here in TN that was nice but ran poorly. They are around. That said, I'd consider starting with another vehicle.

Also you won't have trouble with rusty floors if you dealt with the leaky cowl and seam sealer up there where the leaks are likely coming from.

Mine has about the same amount of rust. I'm getting a welder soon and can't wait so I can go to town on this thing. I'm gonna buy a cheaper one since I won't need to weld much thicker than 1/4 inch. Good thing is it's a K5 and I have another one I can compare to.

The thing is, a welder is an investment and one that you want to cover your needs for a good while. Try to buy a little MORE than you need.

I've welded the better part of my life I even lived in a welding shop over a year so I need to slow my roll and just save up for the Miller I want. Then I'll be doing other peoples projects possibly and getting some welding work, I'm just excited to get started and am a little low on money but your definately right and you got me thinking straight again, thanks and have a good day.

You done a good job on the Chevy! There's a channel I watch here in the UK with a guy restoring an old diesel Rover SD1 (very rare with that engine, but he's also restored a few V8 SD1s) and he shows a lot of the welding. I think it is that our dreams have practically been destroyed by rampant greed, and that loyalty and dedication are not rewarded like they once were.
