Repairing a rotten window frame and review of Wickes wet rot wood hardener and Ronseal wood filler

Welcome back! This week we are repairing a rotten window frame which takes the brunt of all the weather and UV light coming off the hills here. We dig out the rot, harden the wood with Wickes wet rot wood hardener and then fill it with Ronseal high performance wood filler.
Review:
Both products performed very well and were easy to use- apart from the lid on the Wickes hardener! The filler sands down very easily too. Now this is done, I will repair the putty and re-paint the frame.

I did this and I didnt get the result that was really perfect, sure it's livable but I think my options are replace and uPVC or put a whole new wood for the sill. I'm leaning towards uPVC because it would give my house an uninterrupted line of all uPVC windows and the wood ones out of sight. Don't know il see next year.

Thanks for your reply. For me this was a first attempt at puttying, and it was on a window that would rarely be seen as it was on a garage so worth a roll of the dice. It's still intact 3 years on!

@@TefsTravails I’ve seen one person on TikTok use a plastering trowel to move about the slightly moist wood filler and get a better shape, that seems logical to me but it’s too late now that its on and dry.
