It's so satisfying to get into a job that someone used electrical tape and then I get to get in and clean it all up and put nice solders or heat shrink butt connects. I used to do a lot of car stereos and would die every time i pulled one out of the dash and saw all the wires twisted and taped. Especially here in the hot Texas summer, all that tape just unravels an makes the wires all sticky. Thanks for the video, brings back great memories.

The Comet was the first pinball machine I bought and owned when I was 16! Total repaint on mine as well. Great memories! Thanks for the video.

Thank you Bernand, it's a great game and would be a great addition to any collection, at 16 you started off with a good one!

I have the same problem. In your video the pic of the schematics show a capacitor at C15. You seem to have the same weird thing that I do. In your pic, if I am not mistaken, C15 has a diode instead of a capacitor. I know this vid is old but I hope you can explain the reason it has a diode instead of a capacitor for C15. Unless I am mistaken.
@LyonsArcade Жыл бұрын
It looks like a diode, but that's actually a capacitor. It's a glass capacitor, which looks very similar to a glass diode. Those capacitors usually last a very long time so you probably don't have to replace the one on your board.

Once again, first place I look when researching possible games to buy. I got an actual barn find Comet a couple days ago. Similar board hack on mine too. But playfield is in pretty good shape and everything works except flippers. I just ordered new ramps today. Pretty excited about the restore. Let the headaches begin!

For my LaserCue it had the same sort of thing on the connector. What I did is put in 18G wire and mimic what was in my High-Speed 1 where that G.I. has the yellow wiring off the board and has a connector on the end. I think it is a good mod even though it is not how it was it will be easier to replace if it needs to be. But I have LEDs in the G.I. so should not happen again. And with Fuses any more I just pop in new ones as who knows when they were changed if ever so I pop in new fuses usually. Even if they are good they are usually the old style that look like springs inside.

I've seen people do that before with the GI that would work well!

You know how it goes then! It's kind of fun getting a clean part into the machine, swapping stuff around to save another one.
@LuvADuc3 жыл бұрын
Ron-How many hours did you have into this playfield swap?
@LyonsArcade3 жыл бұрын
I don't remember to be honest with you, probably 10 or so to swap over a bunch of parts and clean it, if I painted it maybe another 5 hours

I have one of these and just got it out of storage it’s stuck in test mode how can I get it out of test mode
@LyonsArcade3 жыл бұрын
Open the door and hit the 'advance' button on the inside of the door until it's all the way through test, the batteries probably died (or aren't in it). You sometimes can get it out of test by turning it off then immediately back on, too in less than a second or so. It won't be on freeplay though if the batteries died.

good morning Ron I kinda have a teck question....... the slightly newer 80's digital pinball machines with sound They have three speakers in them two in the head and one in the base Is That A Three Chanel Sound System???? ok was just wondering Thanks Ron
@LyonsArcade2 жыл бұрын
They’re not three channel a few of them are just one channel believe it or not…. They just all hook to the same channel. At the time stereo wasn’t a thing in pinballs yet…. I’m not sure if this one is two channel or not…
