Love to see your average DIY guy doing this. These guys take years to learn this trade. I tried it once, twice, three times to repair a wing...took it to a garage in the end.

This shows why collision shops just replace panels.... But this video is very relatable . People that come to me can't afford collision shop prices. So I get the challenge of trying to make it look decent with scrap metal, hammers, fiberglass, tape lines, and filler.

A great video with clear explanations of how to follow body lines. It's given me the confidence to attempt a small repair on my van. Fortunately, the repair does not include too many angles, it's mosty flat. Many thanks for posting the video.

So nice to see a truly gifted person who really knows what he's doing, and not teaching today's youth how to "hack" repair vehicles. From one body man to another, great work. I am a retired body man with over 42 years experience. I learned in the good old days 1964 to 1979. After that, everything turns to trash. I am subbing you because it is relaxing to watch what I used to do.

I'm glad you finally changed the way you used the spatula. I could see you making a "dip" in the higher curve just with the sweep of your hand. I'm also glad to see how you did this because I did the same thing for an entire quarter that had only the other side to go by and I'd never done that before. Took awhile but finally got it. The space between the character lines also had curves, and were not flat. A lot of sculpting. The guy below is right about using tape but I had to build it up first since there was nothing to go by - the rear part of the door was also mashed in. I had to keep taking measurements from the other side.

You did good, but I've watched videos of paintless repairs, using those different levers, complete repair without any filler or bondo. Very impressive. Ive done a couple of big dents on an old GTO i used to have, but never enough where I didn't have to use filler. Those guys are dang good. But those tools aren't cheap.

As someone who has worked on cars for the past 16 years, I can tell you, you're a wasting your money doing all these steps. Because at the end of the day, getting a new fender and just painting it will be 10x's cheaper then buying all the sand paper, sanding blocks, dent hammers, pulling out the dent equipment, masking tape, masking paper, it all adds up.. it's so much cheaper to just get a new fender or used fender in good condition, however, if you HAVE TO go this route, this is an amazing video to show you how! Great work sir! You did an amazing job!

Nice tutorial. I don’t have access to spot welders or these other fancy electrical gadgets to pull the dent first. I like the fully manual approach…old school if you will. I’m going to try my hand at a nasty dent on the rear quarter panel on my Escape which also has this slope and fender rise (like the fender you reshaped) at the damaged area. Looks like I’ll need a few Dura Block and a new supply of sandpaper. Thank you.

I really Like your videos. You do really nice work. This might sound crazy but I’ve been using a D.A. Sander with 40 grit to rough in my bondo work up to a certain point then I’ll finish it off by hand. On contoured areas you can use an interface pad in between the D.A. backing pad & the hook it sandpaper to really match the profile of the contour to bring it closer to straight and then I’ll finish it by hand blocking. Also I see you like to use the powdered guide coat for high & low spots and I’ve found it works really well for creating & seeing body lines as well that you had to deal with here. Those tricks have been a huge timesaver for me The hook it D.A. sandpaper isn’t really much more expensive. Anyways, just my two cents cuz time is money & there’s never enough of either. Thanks for all the time you spend sharing your craft because you are a true craftsman !
