A air stapler and a heat gun makes this go by so much faster. And much easier to stretch the vinyl.. And to get a much smoother seat.. My wife makes the seat covers and sows the corners so that you get perfect corners and I all ways silicon The seems on the inside as to not let water down into the foam.. Works really well.. By cutting and making it to barley fit. With sown corners and any hard to make sides.. When you hear with a heat gun it will just about fall into place.. Hope this helps someone out.. An air or electric staple gun is by far the easiest to use.

It would be nice to have a walking foot sewing machine for upholstery. I'd go nuts with it. So far though, the seats I've done haven't had any complex shapes I couldn't overcome by stretching the vinyl. Seams would look nice on some of the seats though. The silicone is a great idea on seams. Yes, an air stapler would have saved my forearms. I bought one from Harbor Freight when i had to do my 2nd seat, but it wasn't strong enough to go into the plastic of the seat pan even with the compressor's regulator set at 120 PSI. What stapler do you use?

Now I do like the expand a foam idea. Seems like you could build a hole new foam pice if your seat was missing it really easy and it would be contoured to the seat pan. And then just shape it to the dimensions that you want to achieve..

They must have changed the formula for the foam it 3 because I tried this and the foam ended up rock hard. Now I’m trying to figure out how to get it off without completely ruining my seat

I would probably use 5 next time. 3 was too soft.
