Good on you!!! I am a retired electrician and I repair many mowers every year, rolling around in my backyard with no shop to work in. A lot are done for free for people who can't afford repairs. And like you on this, I have things given to me and repair from several donors, with a little help on parts from some churches when needed, this gets done. Some repairs are made and they are charged, if I know they are capable of paying. Keep up the good work and keep teaching us. Thank you!

We just returned from nearly 50 years in Europe where I started repairing small engine items as a hobby. It Snowballed. I have never changed a dime for my time and small parts I have to purchase. SO, 130+ units later, I’m still making people smile. I would drag units from the recycle centers on base, repair them and give them away to those in need. The great feeling you get & the Smiles that Glow from those you help, make it all worth while. Good on Ya Lady..

Bre thank you for being generous and giving person. I do a lot of no charge or cost for parts only if I don't have the good used parts available. When I was police officer one of the jobs I got given to me was to get people to keep their grass cut. Often I found them to be on need of help. If they had a non running mower, I would come back after work and check it out and take it home to fix it. Again I would charge only for parts I didn't have on hand. Service the mower and clean it up and returning it to a smiling and sometimes teary eyed person. Word got out and anyone who had an old mower they would get a hold of me and give it to me so I always had a mower to give away after repairing it. Thanks again for all you do for all of us out there doing what you and your husband do.

God Bless you! Your kindness will be rewarded many times. We have a shop that ripped my elderly Dad off so many times. He would bring a riding mower in (1 1/2yr old) to have it fixed. They would hold it hostage for 4 months and then claim it would cost $400 to fix. He would let them keep it and buy another riding mower. This happened over and over. Keeping the machine for months and claiming ALWAYS $400 to fix it. They also claimed there was a $100 fee to diagnose it. He finally told me what was going on. I asked him because I kept seeing new riding mowers. I put a stop to that. This "business" just ripped people off. I am so glad there are still honest people like you in the world. *UNFORTUNATELY* this "business" still operates. Be well.

Yes, you may dislike the spring assist but for an old timer like me who was never built to be athletic (couldn’t make it in professional sports so ended up as a family doctor for 44 years) it’s the berries! I finally have a chain saw I can start for the limited need I have in my small yard. As a skinny kid my mother even bought a lawn mower with a spring start and we both loved it. So there are those of us who the spring assist start was developed for. For other whimps reading this get an electric chain saw….. they always start and run well and are lower cost without the mess of another gasoline engine. I have both and use them frequently…..

Good job and the pay it forward. By personal experience I found that water in gasoline will sit in the bottom of the fuel bowl and if a drop gets up in the jet - it will Block gasoline from getting vaporized to make the engine run. Long term, the water corrosion will block fuel passages.

Wonderful idea! I do the same thing in my community. I’m no professional like you, but I’m retired and like to work on small engines as a hobby. I use the neighborhood app Nextdoor to ask for donations (especially during spring and fall garage cleanings)… many of my neighbors have contributed gas powered equipment they no longer want or need. If and when I can repair the items I donate it to Habitat For Humanity on behalf of the person who gave it to me. This usually includes, lawn mowers, trimmers, generators, chainsaws, etc. anything a new home owner can use. I’m sure you’re going to find it to be as gratifying as I do… just helping people in need makes you feel good too!

Real great with givaways for less fortunate! And i liked you alot before i saw this. I learn lots of new stuff from you. :) a tip on the EZ start (springloaded). after you choke it, and get it to go boom. Turn the choke off and give it maybe 5 more slow pulls. That does the trick with my little ms211c chainsaw. It gets real cranky if you dont turn of the choke after it pops. Keep up the good work! :)

It looked good to me from the get-go so I'm not surprised at all. The lady next door is one of those that gets upset with machines. She gave me a brand new Echo straight shaft whacker that wouldn't run? It didn't feel right, the throttle was loose and sloppy? I opened the shrouds and the plastic top of the carb that hold the cable was broken. I'm thinking she got pissed and gave it a toss? I found the part on line but for a buck more I just got a brand new carb. Really cheap! Two nuts and two tugs later I had a new brush cutter. TIP: walk into most rug stores and ask for a syringe, they usually give you one for free. I have some bigger ones my doctors nurse gave me I use for removing gas in things like my wood splitter. I attached some tygon to them to get into the tank corners!

try alternating one pull with the choke on and one with it off. I do the reverse with tools when they're warm, starting with choke off, and I don't have flooding problems.
