Wow! This worked! Both mirrors were dead. Followed video exactly, cleaned everything with an old toothbrush, kitchen roll and ethanol. They both work like new!! Thank you

I was literally going to go to my local junk yard and pull one of these switches from a car and hope for the best. Glad I came across this video!! Taking this apart and cleaning all the contacts worked like a charm!! Thank you very much!

Thank you for this video!!! New to the world of Saabs and tracking down issues. The mirror switch wasn't working and now it is.

Thank you so much, Stuart - I just did this and indeed, the mirror glasses move much better, almost as they should be. Unfortunately though, the driver's mirror glass will still not move up as much as it used to (a problem that started after a workshop painted this triangular area adjacent to the mirror), so I guess I need to remove and disassemble that mirror to check for broken contacts and clean things inside there.

This was the case for my saab 9-5 and it solved the problem. Big thanks for the tip!

v good thank you. One thing is that there is a sharp point at the bottom of the panel to be pulled out to pop the switch and it digs into the plastic so it would be good to protect the plastic with some masking tape to protect the plastic on the door panel.

Very important that you try to get the switch contacts and the rubber piece that retains them to lay flat in the switch assembly prior to putting it back together. Otherwise the contacts will be slightly out of position, the switch won't fully work, and you will be pulling the whole thing back out again to reposition the contacts properly.

This worked for me, its surprising how little dirt can disable the switch, those release clips are a nightmare, why are such things always so delicate. Next job for me is to clean the contacts on the steering wheel buttons.

The little button that tilts the glass down to see the kerb does it do both sides? Mine only does passenger. Thanks
@j.frankparnell61952 жыл бұрын
Only tilts the passenger side in so that you can see the curb when parking.

Shame that you did not show where you inserted the point to open the clips holding the switch together
