Repairing my old Philips B3X91A radio
I got an old Philips B3X91A radio but it is not working.
The final tube El84 was replaced, the scale lamp was replaced, a short from the ferrite rod and a capacitor was fixed and I made a new speaker front. Not a real restauration but the radio is working again!

Nice job on the speaker! Consider recapping it? I have a magnavox table radio similar, it as missing the 4 knobs, turns out I had a very old dresser with wooden knobs, drilled a perfect hole in 4 of them and they made nice dials that match the wooden cabinet perfectly, also got some better looking knobs for the dresser, win win scenario there. Mine plays decent but I know I need to recap the electrolytic caps in it, I’d doesn’t have paper caps but I would be crazy to not just do it all when I tear into it. I bet you could get much better reception and louder more clear sound with a recap. Someday I’ll tear back into it.

Vandaag dezelfde radio opgepikt, helaas is de versterker kapot.. Ook doet het groene licht het niet. Enig idee of dit groene licht effect heeft op het eindresultaat wanneer ik de versterker vervang?

Middag Bas, het groene licht komt van een buis EM4 of EM34 , deze zijn gewoon nog te vinden en worden gebruikt als afstemoog. Als je deze niet vervangt dan doet de radio het wel maar een buis vervangen is natuurlijk een kleine moeite :-) Succes, Jarno

Looks like one of the last cheap Philips models from the 70's. It looks very plastic.Nice repairwork though. Shame there's hardly any good music on the radio these days. Although Dutch Radio 5 nostalgia is reasonable,as I gather from your accent, you're Dutch.
