I agree with you about the Oscillating tool 👍 big game changer! I've remodeled more than half of my house with that tool and it is the HF version 😆

Man, I admire your work. When it comes to remodeling, I just have to hire it out. Oftentimes, my projects end up worse than when I started. It's too bad as I do enjoy working with my hands, but I have two left thumbs when it comes to carpentry.

Those joist "hangers" are amazing. They must use the Force to keep that floor up. With fresh cold air cycling in there from that hole, it was probably like a nice little deep freezer in there making sure those pipes froze.

Hey Handyman, any chance you would consider doing a video on mudding basics? Maybe the recommended tools, and explaining what each product does, and when to use it?

Hey Handyman. Are you supposed to install the insulation with the paper side towards the living space? Did you do it upside down? Always great videos. Thanks!!!

I think what he meant to say was yes, the paper goes against the floor. But because the crawl is open to the climate/ humidity controlled area of the house it’s not a big deal…once he closes the mouse hole.👍🏼

Vapor barrier is NOT the crawl space. Vapor barriers always face the conditioned space.
@guybuildsstuff7137
@guybuildsstuff7137 5 ай бұрын
In certain instances it doesn't matter which way the vapor barrier faces. In an unconditioned crawl space the barrier would face towards the conditioned floor. Reason being changes in temperature would cause moisture to build up and get trapped in the insulation fibers if the fibers are facing towards the conditioned area

I've never lived in an area where weather can freeze the pipes. I've often wondered all the ways one would protect them when it gets that cold.

nice work.the access panel i would had build it on the 2x4 and put 6'' of sheekrock on top so now they can break the bottom if they go back into the crawl space ?.
@TheHandyman1

It's a no access crawl space. The only reason for the panel is to take it off the next time it gets to 20 below zero

That was a large hole to the outside! No wonder the pipes froze! Spray foam works great for drafts, but I find in the 🇨🇦 cold..the mice are savage, they chew thru it..spray foam pebbles everywhere, lil bastards!

18:50 Based on what? We chose a battery platform too, Ryobi. It has been serving our contracting business very well. What do you base your condemnation of Ryobi on? I suspect nothing. Oooh, you bought DeWalt at at Home Depot instead of Ryobi. You're such a pro. LMFAO!

Ryobi is fine for light use but it’s not an investment for a business. Not really knocking Ryobi it’s not meant to be pro grade.

the best advice to that homeowner would be, next time it floods, leave the house until it destroys that hole room, tear it down and rebuild.....what the hell was holding this floor joist? some make shift joist hangers attached to nothing? lol . I have to say, take the money and run, if they call again, disconnect your phone number. good job with the repair.
