Awesome wrenching video Dmitri!!! On that spacer you were asking questions about for the spur gear I checked my Baja and the gear has no back-and-forth play and it’s sitting about an eighth of an inch away from the back plate. I can take my spacer off and measure it to get the thickness if you need it brother. I make all kinds of my own parts for these things. Great watch brother👍👍👍
@hybrid324944 жыл бұрын
hey BEN!! Thank you for that info! This stuff is tough to explain, but easy to see in videos, you know. Anyway, I noticed my spur is a 2-piece design (I did not show it in this video). There are small spacers inside the spur. Does your's have that same 2-piece design? Technically I have almost zero space on the layshaft anyway, before that E-Clip goes on, and yet my spot is almost right on the gear plate as it is. Maybe this was the old King Motors design, IDK. This model is one of the original BAJAs from years ago btw.
@Meyers2strokeRcgarage4 жыл бұрын
hybrid32494 yes the gears are a two piece design with rubber bushings to act as dampeners as the torque is applied. There are also different colors and harnesses of the dampeners. I do believe the green ones are the soft ones and the clear ones are the hard ones. The softer ones just deliver more dampening affect. Yes and you’re right it could just be an old king motors One of the original ones that hasn’t been updated or something.

@hybrid324944 жыл бұрын
hey my dude!! You're 100% right, heat will solve about 95% of the thread lock issues on any RC. Believe it or not I was able to remove other screws by simply holding a soldering iron on the bolt for about 1-2 minutes. That is the perfect localized heat source. The only only I had to cut was what you saw in the video. It's just a very thick 6MM bolt in a metal housing, my soldering iron was not able to heat the bolt enough. Plus this is right near a fuel tank you, know, So I did not get extremely crazy with a torch. Otherwise you right on!! Thanks for watching bro!..

@hybrid324944 жыл бұрын
hey my dude! Good question! In general most owners want 8K RPM clutches because they engage at a higher engine RPM, giving you more off-the line grab since your engine is spinning faster, make sense? Some really performance oriented clutches can be made to engage at 10K RPM,. I prefer the lower RPM range personally, I find it adequate for my driving. Also the taller RPM clutches reduce some of that bottom end bog down that these engines could experience before they get into their optimal RPM ranges, you know.

I'll share some easy inexpensive things that I do to my body shells to add rigidity and durability. Let me & everyone know what you all do, I'm not implying my method is the best, easiest or least costly, I'd ike to hear what you all do and or think about my suggestion. The more ideas, the better right? The more we know and the more options we have in our "tool box" the better. I truely hope that I benifit someone with this comment. Hybrid, you can't get angry about stuff like that my friend, you've gotta just laugh it off. All of us in the hobby, feel your pain. Pushing our RC's and making mistakes is part of the fun. It happens! I'm not telling you anything new, just laugh it off Břø. If you want to play...dont cry about the game. Teehee 😊 I can't say that this process would have prevented that kind of body damage but, it may have minimized it and it may have remained in a repairable state. My method, just so everyone knows, is not going to be as tough as Gorilla taping and/or the drywall and shoe goo reenforcement method. It is however effective, easier to do and costs much less. The method I'm about to describe, can also be used in conjunction with the aforementioned methods. I typically use a little Gorilla tape or those plastic washers around the body post holes and areas where I suspect are weak or areas exposed to damage on the body. When I get a new, to me RC, I look for info and watch videos to learn where the body shell has a tendency to break more readily and easily, so I can extra reenforce trouble spots. The concerns I have with using Gorilla tape, inside of the body, is that to get it to stick well, you need to take a heat gun to it. That works great however there is a fine line between bonding the tape and warping your body shell. A hair dryer in this instance, would probably be more advisable if you have one when heating lexan. What I have used and has produced the best results is...chassis and grill paint. Lightly and carefully scuff then of course, clean/degrease the inside of the body shell as preparation. I then use masking tape around the outside of the shell edges to catch overspray. I double to triple coat the inside of the body shell with, Harbor Freight sold, Iron Armor Chassis & Grill paint. This dries to a nice firm rubbery plastic type finish. It adds rigidity while still having sufficient flexibility. The surface is shiny black and has a plastic like feel on its surface. I've both used this paint on top of and beneath Gorilla tape and/or body washers etc. As a finishing touch, I like to apply as a final coat, Harbor Freight Iron Armor Rubberized Undercoating. I don't know how much that last part helps but, I like the texture and the more matte black finish. Look, this method does not result in an indestructible body however, it helps a lot. You may still want to further reenforce weak and/or exposed areas. This can be done either before or after application of this paint. I advise that you sand down the painted area you want to add reenforcement to but, you do not have to remove it all. I couldn't promise that this would have prevented all of that body shell damage but, I'd bet the cost of a new shell that it would have greatly minimized all of that damage and the shell would have been in ugly yet repairable condition. This method is very inexpensive considering other methods. One can will reenforce a couple to few bodies depending upon the scale and number of coats. It is also very easy to do. It takes time for everything to dry, multiple coats etc but, most of that is hands off doing other stuff time. It's not labor intensive nor messy. I am frugal, similar to Dmitry. (How is your name spelled using the Russian language alphabet?) I like my stuff to last and save money in the long run. I like my RC's to look nice. I'm anal about most aspects of my RC's, I like stuff done right. That said, I am not anal about my body shells. I don't have any shelf queen's and I see the body shell primarily as protection. Looks are nice but, having fun is more important to me. By shell damage is just part of the hobby and having fun. It's to be expected IMO. I for example, have a large dog that enjoys chasing and catching my RC's. I enjoy watching him enjoying this activity even at the expense of my body's. He is getting better about not biting the shell like he used to, I do discourage the biting part. Now he will try to catch and stop the RC with his teeth on the body however, he no longer tears into it. He still bites the body but, he is more gentle about it. If I flip the RC he no longer bites it but, stands guard waiting for me to upright it. (I need to teach him how to upright them, that would be awesome.) Regardless, I have teeth marks on all of my ground control RC's. I have however noticed, that this body shell reenforcement reduces the damage done by a good bite. The teeth marks are not as deep and don't protrude through. I have a 2wd Slash that I did the wide jato A-arm monster slash, sometimes called a "Jang" wide mod too. I however also successfully used the Jato rear A-arms as well. Anyhow, this is my dog park RC. The body has teeth marks everywhere but, it is still holding strong. I have applied some extra coats for extra protection considering the abuse it gets. Had I not reenforced that body shell as described, I would have gone through a few bodies that looked like the one Hybrid showed. FYI, I have tried other spray on products including truck bed liner. They just didn't produce the results I had hoped for. There is very possibly, probably actually, something better. This stuff is just the best I personally have bought and tried. On a seperate side note, always melt your gorilla tape to the rubber when tape strapping tires. This step is an extreamly critical step that many skip. I've seen a lot of "instructional" videos showing people how to tape tires but, they skip this critical step. No tape that I'm aware of, will stay stuck to rubber, under the conditions a rubber RC tire goes through, without heating the tape to a clean surface. Heating that tape up good, makes all the difference in the world. Use care and common sense, heat guns will get hot enough to melt and/or damage the rubber. You want it hot but be smart about it, don't keep the heat on one direct spot for even a second. When it comes to the longevity of the tape sticking, the rubber needs to be clean, oil free and dry. I will even flip the tire inside out using soapy water and something abrasive such a a sanding block to lightly skuff the rubber some. After you apply the tape to the rubber, I recommend using gloves to smooth out the tape as you heat it. I can tell that I've got the tape hot enough when the black serface of the tape turns more shiny and you can see the glue melting and oozing a tad out the sides. The tape will also shrink a little, especially on the sides. This slight shrinking of the tape smooths out any wrinkles, I use my thumbs working from the center of the tape or tire to the sides smoothing and bonding the tape to the rubber working any creases out. I'm yet to have a taped tire fail after using that method. I don't know what's normal for a 2 stroke spur gear but if it is rubbing, I can't see how a shim would hurt? IDK, JMHO!

In terms of tires, you could get any tires and just swap them onto the deadlock wheels. There are a couple tread styles Rovan sells, id choose the OFF-ROad tires instead of the on-road, to be honest with you. They are taller, and will give you a little more speed, plus you got plenty of tread to wear down. I run a set of slicks on another baja, and it's 100% hype, they don't hook up at all. Ive since driven this baja a few times and nothing has shown any signs of extra wear, in the next video I will be testing out this clutch.

Wish we were closer. Hybrid. I like to have the broken Rally body parts . For a future pattern since they won't be available to much longer .

Take the spark plug out, put piston at bottom of stroke and shove a bunch soft string or cord down the hole then the Piston won't move

I wonder what Kevin Talbot would have done LOL!!!!!!!!!

You never keep twisting a bolt into the hole you just drilled out to cut new threads, you start by going in until it gets tight and then back it out and then back in along with oil, Second never use red lock tite as that was the trouble with the bolt that broke off, Always use blue. Been in this hobby for a long time. Won the 2002 western worlds here in Arizona... Just a heads up!!!

hey buddy! Thanks for watching. Appreciate your advice, you are 100% right about everything. I got this Baja used and I was not the person who used a ton of red thread lock, you know, clearly that was a mistake by the previous owner. BTW I I might not have properly explained how I was able to use the new bolt without cutting threads, but what you said is exactly what I did off camera. This repair is holding together and I've been running this baja pretty consistently. Im glad to have a true RC Expert comment on my vids!! thanks!.

LOL. you got that right!! That goes without saying, lol. Considering I got this BAJA used like 2 years ago now and this clutch was the only thing that ever broke, I;d say I did pretty well. thanks for watching my dude.

Mesh tape and shoe goo or e6000 will make your bodies last a long time
@hybrid324944 жыл бұрын
hey bro! YEs, you're mostly right about that. On many of my smaller RCs I use drywall repair tape and hot glue, works magic. On a huge body like this, it would make it very heavy and the crash I had would not have stopped the disaster I think. Plus this redcat body is made from PVC, so it just crumbles like that.

Somebody is rich they own a cordless dyson
@hybrid324944 жыл бұрын
LOL!! Finally somebody noticed!!! BTW< bad news on that Dyson, you won't see it in any more videos. I'm quite sure somebody stole it. A couple days after making the video I was vacuuming my prius and left it outside for a few seconds in my yard. I have not found it since. Now I'm using a shitty 35 dollar amazon vacuum.

hybrid32494 it’s like you live in New York and someone stole it so now they’re rich if you put that 35.00 outside I doubt if they would steal it lol I wonder how much the charger is for the dyson

Maybe invest in a tap
@hybrid324944 жыл бұрын
Hey man! Thx for watching. My fix has worked well and ive put multiple tanks thru this baja since. No tap needed. Just the nitrogang skills is all it takes!

My friend im glad i came across your channel. You are incredibly entertaining. There are numerous RC channels on KZbin , however the majority suffer from boredom . Its pretty obvious you put a lot of energy into your videos . Nice work you definitely convinced me to be subscriber , keep up the good work , im looking forward to your next video . Cheers

I wanna see the crash video!!! Nobody's perfect man, crashing's part of driving these rc cars. I would rather crash the HELL outta 1 of mine instead of a dirtbike or 4wheeler.
