See, this is what Spiderleg needed in the books. This would have given more depth to his character rather than people just seeing him as an absent father. Instead, he would have been viewed as someone grieving over tragic losses, and he could have served as a lesson to what happens to those who continue to let grief blind them. It could have been an extremely powerful message.

a lot of the series would be so much better if there was only one writer. or if the writers mapped out a plan for each character on a google doc or something, to stay consistent. so many characters get overlooked because of the poor writing or misrepresented.

I kind of like the way the Erins handled his relationship with Daisy. Spiderleg even said it himself, "It just wasnt meant to be" and I kind of like the maturity of that. The relationship was one that they rushed into, and when it came down to it, it was clear that there was an emotional disconnect. Its a bittersweet sentiment, but an honestly very mature topic for Warrior cats

As one married for several years, and with experience feeling like its not meant to be, I actually find that phrase to be immature. There is no "meant to be", there is only working to make it work, and you always can as long as both are willing. There will be years even that you feel nothing for each other, but that is marriage; Unfortunately most people don't understand this and think its possible to fall out of love, when it is totally normal to stop feeling after a while, or here and there. This would have just been Spiderleg's inexperience, and immaturity.

From what I remember about the books, Spiderleg didn't do a clean break up with Daisy. He somewhat slowly ghosted her and the kids. Of course it's explainable, the MAP shows that, but it doesn't make it good or mature imo

Toadstep following him until he grew older made my heart shatter. He tried to get his father’s attention so much. Spiderleg and him coming down to watch daisy and Rosepetal was just so reassuring and heartbreaking at the same time❤️

Spiderleg is so underrepresented in the fandom. I am so, SO, happy this map released. I felt so bad for him, even if he left Daisy. The way he felt when Toadestep died realized he missed some of the most important years of his life, all because his siblings and family all died around him.

oh wow, i never saw spiderleg in this way. this is absolutely heartbreaking and stunning. genuinely crying by the end. the feeling when he first gets to starclan of like, jesus christ, what did his life end up being? it was nothing. he died without ever having lived. but then he gets a second chance in death. wow wow wow. one of the best warriors maps ever.

I like this interpretation of Spiderleg, it shows he is more then just a absent father. He wanted to be there, but couldn’t bring himself to be with his family because he is afraid of losing them like everyone else. When Toadstep dies though, i think he realized yes, cats may die but you shouldn’t let that stop you from being with them, making a relationship, you shouldn’t miss out on that. I like this map. I also love the ending were Daisy and Rosepetal are helping each other with their grief, it does show that Daisy did still care for Spiderleg, even if they did cat divorce. She lost him. I like Toadstep and Spiderleg finally being able to have a relationship at death, and Daisy and Rosepetal know that they will be safe in StarClan. But man.. makes me feel worse for Daisy later when Rosepetal dies, she lost everyone as well. Maybe that is meant to show how different she and Spiderleg are, she still let herself love other cats throughout her lost while Spiderleg closed himself in. I love this map

I can't express how beautifully depressing this animation is. I never really paid much attention to Spiderleg when reading through the series, as he was never really on my radar, but after watching this beautiful and heartwrenching animation, I have a whole new view and appreciation for both his actions and his character. I'm going to definetely pay more attention to him on my next read-through of the series. And although painful, I love the message this brings, it's a good wake up call for me and probably most others watching this animation as well. Good work to everyone who contributed to this animation, this is one of the best animations I've ever seen and is easily one of my favorites. Even the end credits are beautiful and making me want to sob my heart out. Good job again with this amazing animation to all of those involved. Time to go grab some tissues

First off I gotta say, bravo to everyone who participated in this MAP. I can’t remember the last time a MAP made me teary eyed like this. All parts were beautifully drawn and well-animated. I love it when the fandom takes characters like this who don’t get a whole lot of screen time in the books and develop them by piecing together little tidbits of their backstories. This portrayal of Spiderleg kind of reminds me of Crowfeather, as he too became far too enveloped in his grief and sadness to the point where he disassociated himself from his family. But the difference between Spiderleg and Crowfeather is that Crowfeather eventually saw the error of his ways and was able to fix things before it was too late. As sad as it is, Spiderleg died before he was ever truly able to make things right. As unsatisfactory as that ending was for him, I find it to be a realistic conclusion. Not all stories like this have a clean-cut happy ending. Sometimes, we don’t always have the chance to finish what we started, and we don’t always have the opportunity or time to fix what we broke. Once again, absolutely beautiful MAP!

wow. I don't comment on much, but this really struck me hard in a soft part of myself that doesn't often get hit. Grief is soul destroying. It's awful, so awful there are no words for it. But this kind of grief, grief that just keeps coming and coming and tearing you apart from the inside and ruining things that could be good because you can't move on from all you've lost... god. It's such a uniquely wrecking experience and I don't know many people who understand it. I'm too young to have lost all the people I have and this is beautiful. I feel seen and understood and represented. My grief has made me ugly and bitter and angry and so horrifically sad, but so had Spiderleg's in this video, and he's still loved by the few that matter, and even if he's being torn apart, this life is beautiful. I've watched this three times now. god. it really spoke to me and made me feel more understood than I have in months. thank you guys. ❤

I’ve been waiting for this MAP to come out for so long and the end result ended up turning out beautiful. Wow, this is so beautiful. I remember when the storyboard had just came out and I knew this was going to be amazing. Everyone did so good and this really illustrates Spiderlegs point of view. He was a bad father and he was very much in the wrong for abandoning his mate and children and those actions are what ultimately led to dying alone. But, he is also a deeply sad character struggling with the grief of so much loss. Grief can destroy a person and Spiderleg is an example of that. I love this map so much it really shows Spiderleg in a different light than how he is shown in the books and also how he is talked about in the fandom. Again, absolutely amazing job to everyone involved in this map!

Yk I’ve never been the biggest spider leg fan (bro when I saw that daisy and spider leg had kids I literally couldn’t stop saying out loud “ spider leg and daisy?, spider leg and daisy? WHY” ) and I never liked how he wasn’t the best father, but he did earn a little more respect when I found out he was just scared and didn’t know what he was doing, (I mean I’m only on night whispers so idk there could be a redemption part in the future books)

This is a MAP that will go down in warrior cat's MAP history, it is this special. I've never seen anyone come anywhere near this close to capturing Spiderleg's tragic story, the symbolism is beautiful and heart wrenching, the story is touching and all the cats feel fleshed out with a third dimensionality that you just don't see in MAPs. There's this feeling I get that with Warrior's its either black or white, and this MAP tells story wirh many shades of grey. Spiderleg is not a good person, he was an absent father for Toadstep until his very death and this is all he seems to be remembered for. With this MAP I am certain people's perception of Spiderleg will be altered in some way shape or form. To me this MAP is monumental, I want to congratulate all the talanted animators who poured their blood sweat and tears into forming this vision. One of the few MAPs that made me cry, well done

i remember seeing the original map call way back when, so i knew this was going to be good, but damn. this was incredible. it's amazing how warrior cats content can still make me feel something, even after all these years, and even with a character as insignificant (plot-wise) as spiderleg i especially like how lonely the entire atmosphere is in this map. there's no bustling clan around spiderleg. it's just him and his family, a family that he's learned to disconnect himself from in an attempt to protect himself from further suffering. the visual of their old tree-hollow den being cut down is an especially nice touch; even the painful memories turn to dust, as if none of it even mattered in the first place astounding work by all the arts involved. projects like these continue to remind me why i loved this fandom so much in the first place
