Of this new single Andy Bell said:
"I haven’t got tired yet of blasting this track. 'Repetition' is at the absolute heart of “This Is Not A Safe Place". It was one of the very first songs written for the album, and has always felt to me like one of the best songs I’ve written.
"It has a great dual harmony vocal from myself and Mark. Steve came up with the brilliant Juno 6 bassline that starts the song, which he overdubbed on our last day of recording for the album, Loz puts down a monster of a drum track, it’s both very experimental and very pop in approach and that’s what Ride always tried to do in the early days. For me it succeeds in bringing me back to all of the things we were into and talked about when we were 18, but also being of the moment, in 2019.
"I know I am speaking for the whole band, and Erol, when I say we are really proud of this record, and we hope you enjoy it. "
Following the success of "Weather Diaries" the band returned to the studio with producer Erol Alkan to make their sixth LP. The album was mixed by Alan Moulder with Caesar Edmunds at Assault & Battery in London.

mr abc / true just glad ride is still alive and being able to see them live is huge but err to have just a few songs per album that harkened to the old days would satisfy old and new... yes the fact that Noel and Liam snatched up Andy tells you all you need to know and Noel is the “ musicality “ of the band.. Apparently Noel took Liam to see the Stone roses play and kid Liam pointed to Ian and said that’s what I want to do lol And poor Greg here is getting a bit of a history lesson lol

First listen - very different! I'm hearing a lot of 80's pop influence here, bit of Depeche Mode et al. Amazing that this wonderful band are still trying things out and pushing the envelope more than any of the indie land-fill in 2019. Sounds like they're having a lot of fun doing it too. Can't wait for more surprises on the album.
