Keenan Thomas in the description it has the date of the hearing, you can use that to look up the hearing on C-SPAN. There it will have the title of the actual hearing, and usually at the beginning of hearings the chairman of the committee will outline the purpose of the hearing and what the committee overall is trying to establish. Certain committees are also responsible for scrutinizing the departments whose name they bear, in other words they hold the cabinet secretaries accountable and give the American people an opportunity to see how the administration (Of the day) is doing in various departments. And committees do sometimes have power, when they’re analyzing certain bills sometimes they can die in the committee process. Say you have a bill that is not cost effective, sometimes the bill can be killed in the house ways and means committee to give an example. Also when you testify before congressional committees, you take an oath that carries the same weight as testifying in a court of law. In other words you can be charged with perjury if you lied to Congress in your congressional testimony. You can also be subpoenaed if they need to talk to you and you’re deliberately avoiding them. To give an example say you’re at the CEO of a cellular company and you sold the meta-data of customers to foreign governments, and just like in court you You can be held in contempt. I feel I should mention you can assert your fifth amendment liberties Regarding the right to remain silent. As for representative Porter herself, and the purpose of her line of questioning you can read in the video description.

@emmettdonkeydoodle62304 жыл бұрын
Chuck Taylor So, you weren’t paying attention to what was being said. Her reclaiming time is because politicians tend to talk bs for as long as they can until time runs out. This is to avoid incriminating themselves while simultaneously trying to paint themselves in a better light. If you actually listened to the conversation being had, every question she asked was answered by Zuck with redundant and off-topic factoids disguised as if it were related to her inquiry (it wasn’t). She caught this right away and stopped the bs in its tracks. She’s sharp and hyper-focused on what’s important. I’m beyond impressed with her interrogation skills

Some of it is feigned. Their lawyers prepped them by telling to answer basically "I don't know." to everything for plausible deniability. @FoshCake4 жыл бұрын
Max K yeah but that is exactly the point, if you want to have any credibility at all with this interview, you should let him speak. He has a right to explain himself, and maybe he’ll say something actually valid. Saying that you assume he’ll come up with a bullshit answer and then shut him down... Also, taking into account the complexity and vastness of the investigation it is impossible to answer with a “simple” yes or no. The interview was poorly conducted, with no answers or explainations to her questions, because she shut him down. I will give you that she did have a point at the end with the 1 billion dollars. But making assumptions, that framing yes or no questions based on those assumptions and actually expect an easy answer is just not done.

It’s a can of worms that seemingly has no bottom to it! Social media has taken on a life of its own because nobody expected it to grow as quickly as it has. No boundaries were initially set for privacy concerns and it’s become increasingly evident that it has become a place where anyone with an axe to grind can grind it, without too many repercussions. This is a bigger issue than having Zuckerberg testify for a day or two in court. It deserves a commission being set up to monitor a full investigation and some concrete laws being enacted. It’s all to murky and open to corruption.
