Couple things for folks wanting to do this themselves and not blow up their new compressor: The evaporator and hi lo pressure lines needed to be flushed out and extra pag oil put in to replace what was flushed out (solvent and flush tool $50 total) . Since the condenser was also replaced, extra pag oil needed to be put into the system for it (easy to find out how much extra online). The compressor comes with enough pag oil in it, for itself, not enough for other components being replaced or flushed. Yes, even the lines have a bit of oil in them and after flushing, the system needs some back for them. Just Google capacities and add the correct amount of extra oil and all will be well.

+billy hughes Thanks. Let me know how it goes. Only thing I would recommend is to also replace the black hose that goes from the top/passenger side of the condenser to the compressor, because it leaks from the crimped ends as it gets older. I hope you have better luck with parts than I did.

Great video! I've got a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe that we left outside in 5 days of 110+ degree heat, and since then it only blows hot air (or hotter if switched to heater). Was hoping it might be a cracked hose, but not really sure where to look. The dealer is saying we need a new Compressor and Condenser (for about $1300 repair cost!). That sound like a rip-off to you? Just curious what the expansion valve portion adds to this fix as you didn't really didn't go into much detail on the scenario in this fix. Any advice appreciated!

New Compressor only $2400 in Australia now that's a rip off, that's from a dealer, $420 for compressor part only

12:31 honestly, i would only use a PAG specifically stated as "double end capped" for o-ring lubrication (with mineral oil, Nylog and PAO as possible alternatives). The label for the oil you used doesn't state it's double end capped. I'm saying that because double end capped PAG isn't hygroscopic

santa fes use halla hs-18 compressor which uses PAG 46 oil, also on the yellow sticker under the engine bay of hyundai santa fes 2003-2006 so the person used the correct pag 46. YOU DONT use Nylog- nylog is a sealant for thread on caps on sharader valves or creating a seal in your hvac guage hoses when your pulling a vaccum persay.

@@proanswers Hold on, you can use every lube you want when you're only lubing o-rings (you have to use the proper oil type and viscosity only when you're filling the compressor up with oil; and even then a lot of shops are actually only using Ester or PAG 100 to avoid storing different oils in the shop, without any problem at all). It's such a small quantity that it won't affect compressor lubrication at all so you don't even have to worry about oil viscosity for this use. Actually, Nylog is a great o-ring lube too. Also, double end capped PAG has better lubricity and it's not hygroscopic compared to normal PAG. Lubing them with hygroscopic PAG is better than nothing, but it's always better to use a non-hygroscopic lube to seal a fitting, or it may seize/corrode especially if it's a threaded fitting...

thanks for the video. Question...in your opinion, is there a way to remove the dryer/dissecant element of the condenser without having to remove the whole condenser? I am thinking a long extension with an Allen adapter to unscrew the bottom cap and let the dryer pouch fall from the receptacle...
@becausestuffbreaks
@becausestuffbreaks 7 жыл бұрын
+Anaestereo I was wondering the same thing but I forgot to look and see if there was an access hole. If yo do find a hole, then I would think you could bend the air drying element out and in. I would think it would be very hard to get out because there's probably not any room to get needle nose pliers up there. Let me know what you find.

you may have to loosen the radiator to condensor bolts to create space on the cap that is taken off by an allen socket. Remember to oull a vacuum (proper one) put the new charge in asap (hours or less) as the dessicant will be pulling in moisture as soon as its exposed (without vacuum)
