Probably the best series on bike mechanics ever produced. And that is a British understatement.

Thank you very much, I was working on my bike this morning, and this video made it a lot easier. No more annoying noises in my bike, and no more play in my cranks, thanks again.

I got this bottom bracket on my bike and it makes creaking noises when I seriously excert some power on the pedals. Was dubbing if I could do this myself on my bike - I just need to get this spanner/wrench and I'm good to go. Thanx for this clear and concise explanation!

Ever heard of a torque wrench? Also it is best to apply a small amount of grease to the end of the axle where it mates with the left hand crank to prevent seizing over time. Apart from that it was a clear explanation. 7/10.

I liked the video, and found it helpful. However I noticed you did not use a torque wrench? It's recommended to use a torque wrench. Tighten to 12 - 14 Nm. I liked the recommendations at the end.

At the very least, and in my case, I find the tube helpful in not fouling up Di2 cables that run through that space.

Should have used a torque wrench on the bottom bracket cups and on the 2 bolts on the left crank arm.

Unlike more recent videos, it doesn't assume you have a mountain bike with a hanger, instead of something that sits in the slot for the rear wheel axle.

good idea! but now while screwing in the two small bolts on the crank arm with a torque wrench set to 12nm, on the arm it says 13-15nm!? Well I started to screw them in evenly on both bolts and then it slipped? I noticed my hex stripped the internal bolt socket being no where near 15nm? Is the spacer in between the bolts in the gap suppose to be loose or is it suppose to be snug and zero gap, ala' 15nm? I would think 15nm would either snap or strip the bolt, 15nm is hard!! what you think?
@seeadler32337 жыл бұрын
I found that the original bolts had a shallow hex hole and a hex wrench slipped out quite easily and rounded out the internal bolt socket . I replaced the bolts with m6x20 1.00 pitch from a hardware store. The replacement bolts have a more secure grip on the hex wrench. They are also , I would guess ,1mm longer than the original and therefore have 1 more thread holding them in the arm. I ride a touring bike and I want my gear to be bullet-proof and easily reparable in the field.

hollowtech 2 yeah? because hollow tech doesn't have the pinch bolts or the spindle attached to the arms? with all the multiple types of BB's wouldnt it be better to label this correctly? or am i wrong and having problems with all of the other BB's except external bearing's.. GXP and hollow tech 2
