I am not a fan of my Start/Stop system. It is not a question of if I will have a problem, but when. Helps to know how the system works so I am ready for when it fails. thanks

The nanny state, aka my home California has all sorts of regulations, that is why there is start/stop mandatory. Love my Jeep, love my state...but they are crazy out here with all these restrictive laws.

Wow! Thank you for this excellent educational video. You are a true advocate for the Jeep owners that have to deal with these multiple issues caused by the two battery systems. Carry On Sir!

Great post. After getting our used JLU and seeing so many posts about this issue I installed the Auto Start/Stop Eliminator so one you turn off, it stays off. I had the dreaded (A) pop up in the middle of nowhere, i made it down the mountain, pulled the negative cable, pulled the fuse and the (A) went away. After we got back, I pulled the full battery going thru the wheel well, very easy todo, I also taped up both ends of the cable sitting in that box and at some point will remove the cables. Thank you for the post, ex MO, now in TX.

I had a JL that was having an issue with the start stop system. I paid a dealer $300 (I think I remember correctly) plus the cost of the AUX battery to change it. Now I have a Gladiator that started having an issue with the AUX battery. I watched several of the videos on KZbin of going through the fender well to change it and did it myself. Super easy to do.

I think a better solution is remove the auxiliary battery completely this eliminates the need to turn it off and you won't be stranded in the auxiliary dies. The Jeep is unjumpable if it does. If you want continued headaches replace the battery if you want them all to go away, remove the battery.

I’ve had the system read “not available batteries charging” since October of 21. It’s a 2019 JLU and the 3yr warranty is up in a week. The dealership has looked at it twice but says the batteries still test as good. I think that at 3 year old batteries they are on their way out and that replacing them will fix the issue. I hope at least.

Make sure they’re reading the code while it’s up, if you restart the code will go away. There’s something throwing an error into the system. I thought that was a dealer for three years.

How do you disconnect all current from flowing anywhere in my 2020 Jeep JL? Tried disconnecting main battery pos and neg, but even interior dome lights remain active. Suspect aux battery is providing continuous current throughout. Any suggestions about how to isolate aux battery power without digging under the fuse box, etc.? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the question in viewing, as long as there AUX battery is connected. You will still have current in the system.

The start/stop dash alert has appeared (Wrangler JL) after I had some axle work done at a transmission shop. My aux battery is only 2 years old. Did they forget to reset the warning? It's actually been nice having it not working, but the alert worries me.
@JeepingMo
@JeepingMo Жыл бұрын
It could have been a wheel speed sensor. Thats the problem with that warning, it isn’t just a charging error. Thanks for viewing the channel.

Hi, nice informative videos. I have a 2018 JL Rubicon has only 18k miles. I noticed Start/Stop indicator light, replace the Aux battery. Now gear knob lights for PNDR lit and when i press start stop switch it has an yellow light now. But no matter what start stop indicator light on the dash wouldn't go away. Any advice?

It really could be just about anything. Did you go down from the top or up from the bottom? Because the light really could be about anything throwing that code. Just because that little light with the a on it is on does not mean that it’s the battery. I’ve had it come on for re-gearing issues and cam phasers. You’ll have to get the dealer. Do you run the code. Thanks for the questions and viewing.

Is the start - stop battery on a dedicated circuit or can you put a lithium or amg battery with increased amp hours in to increase the longevity of accessories for overland and camping setups?

Hello. Thanks for viewing and commenting, your questions are beyond my skills. I know there are a couple 2 batterie kits for the JL. They are AGM from the factory.

I have no aux batt on my JL. I am having problems with the main batt keeping charge. Does this sound like a ESS drain on the main batt? How can I correct my problem? Main batt is not yet a yr old. Have had batt checked along with alternator. Everything checks good. I don't know where to turn.
@JeepingMo
@JeepingMo Жыл бұрын
Bill, make sure I’m reading this correct you’re not running a Aux battery? That could put the whole system in a strange charging loop. I don’t know how it was programmed, whether or not removing the AUX battery will cause issues with charging. I had an issue for a while that I had systems attached to my negative terminal. It would not charge the battery and then the dealer showed me that that Hass to be connected to the body mount and not the negative terminal. The JL as the dealer tells me monitors the negative line for draw and usage, and will not charge if there’s issues. Once I remove that it charge just fine the newer jeeps are a lot more complicated than the older ones were, and unfortunately, a lot of the techniques on the old jeeps do not work on the JL. Hope this helps. Let me know.

Will a faulty oxygen sensor cause the start stop system to fail. I got an engine light came on and then the start stop a came on. I know I have a bad oxygen sensor will that cause the start stop issue thanks.

Thank you so much they both happened at the same time relatively so I was hoping that by fixing the oxygen sensor that it may fix the automatic stop start. I checked the voltage on my auxiliary battery and it’s 12 1/2 V so I don’t believe it’s bad just yet, thanks again

@@jumperdude19 if you get the code again. Dont turn it off and rake it to the dealer to read the code. It resets when you shut it off.

Hi there....I have a question. I just took my car in to be looked at because of stop start issues. I personally tested the battery before I gave the car to them and it read between 13 and 14 amp. I'm a woman and I think they are trying to pad my bill... They said my aux (start stop) battery is dead and my regular battery is too??? But it was at 13.4 this morning?? Its a Chrysler pacifica btw. It's only 22,000 miles. So....am I crazy to think I absolutely don't need a new battery....and, should this be covered under warranty?
@JeepingMo
@JeepingMo 2 жыл бұрын
Hello thanks for the questions, I would definitely get a second opinion on that, that doesn’t sound right. It should be covered under warranty. I know each vehicle has a voltage if it gets under it won’t do anything. I would definitely take it to another dealership. Does it start or run at all?
