I cannot believe how hard this is just to replace a $20 part, but if I can do it,
anyone can!
I did not have to cut my air duct, but it might have been easier to just cut it to replace this part then duct tape it back together.
If you do not have a flexible 1/2" drive adapter like I had, you could try other methods of turning the small bolts. Perhaps, putting dual sided scotch tape on the 1/4" extension would give you enough friction to hold onto and to turn the tool. I am sure there are other possibilities.
