You don’t have to remove power steering pump, you only have to remove blower hoses, the bracket bolts for those said hoses, and the bracket bolt for the power steering high pressure line, you flip the bracket upwards after removing the bolt and push it out of the way. I did it last night and it took me 1 and a half hours maybe just a little more, removing the pump adds on and extra 30 minutes because then you gotta replace the seals for the pump beings you removed the pressure off of the old seal and now that seal probably won’t seal the same again.

It’s called Hondabond. It’s a grey liquid gasket. Permatex makes the same exact stuff it’s called ultra grey gasket maker

Hi, hey this is really helpful to me because I'm going to be needing to replace mine soon and looking at this video, I think I can actually do it. I have 1 question though..in the part where you put it back together and tighten the bolts down, I see you give the specs for torque..I don't have any way to measure torque, so can I just tighten until it feels right or do I HAVE to torque exactly? Again, Thank you for making this video👍
@kitlacaden2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can tighten the bolts even without torque.. make you sure you dont overtight. ;)

@@kitlacaden OK Thank you, I appreciate your reply..hey one more thing I just thought of, I see I'll have to move the power steering unit meaning the belt too, so when putting back together how do I know how tight to make the belt..same way, just make sure it feels right?
@kitlacaden2 жыл бұрын
This unit is using auto tensioner for tension of the belt.. means no need to adjust.. just bring back to original rotation of the belt.

Super late but for future reference, 8-10 ft-lbs is basically hand-tight if you're using a regular sized ratchet (keep in mind the longer the ratchet handle, the more you'll be able to easily "hand-tighten" it)

That's an oil and grease seal removal tool that you can buy at the big box tool store (Harb.. Freig..) For about $7 bucks . No "special" dealer tool needed. I would recommend using the dealer gasket kit and the Hondabond RTV sealant over aftermarket brands. I learned the hard way after having to fix some other aftermarket parts failures in the past. I find Japanese cars to be finicky with most replacement parts.
@Derp20910 ай бұрын
@@Peelerusa Thank you so much! I ended up using a pry bar since I couldn't find the name of that tool, It works, but you gotta be careful of damaging the the mating surface with the edges of the pry bar. This will make my job easier the next time I need it, I appreciate you sharing the name of the tool! :D I totally agree with you. I always go to the dealer for almost every part because of their quality, compatibility and longevity. Every few years and sometimes even more, I find myself having the same problems and having to swap/repair the same parts that are aftermarket and end up spending more money and time on the aftermarket parts due to their reoccurring issues compared to the OEM parts. Now a days I just keep the OEM parts and learn how to rebuild them with the kits at the dealership if they're available. It might not be like this for others, but to each his own.
