Shorter and more concise than videos which are twice as long. Good tips and methods to watch out for. Nice explanations and format / editing. I have a 2010 V6 Accord with 180K on it, and I'm preparing to do it this spring / summer. I like your method of tapping out the rings from the top instead of prying from the bottom, use of channel locks for removal and install of those bolt ring thingies and your use of sealant at the corners of the gaskets.

@@ThePullUpKing I still haven't done it, but I'm gonna. I just turned 200k and I plan on doing it soon Q1: Is it easy to find the torque values online? Q2: The 8th gen V6 s is prone to fouling plugs as a result of the VCM. Do you have any knowledge of the effectiveness of the aftermarket VCM limiter which keeps all 6 cylinders running continuously? Q3: Do you have any tips that would help make this engine last another 100k plus? Thanks, Dave in Ohio

How did your install go last year? I just had a plug fail and oil was on 4 of the 6.
@dvd67225 ай бұрын
@@Jrhortian I didn't do it yet, but I'm still putting 700+ miles on every week. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe the valve cover gaskets replacement will affect the oil on the plugs. The fouling of the plugs is caused by the VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) which alternates between shutting down 2 alternating pairs of cylinders while at moderate RPMs (not climbing, not accelerating.) As a result, oil collects in the 2 non-firing cylinders and causes 4 of the plugs to get gunked up. There is an electronic VCM tuner module which will disable this feature. I read that it doesn't make much difference in MPGs. Haven't installed it yet. I replaced my plugs quite a while ago with the NGK laser iridium. I suspect that they were developed for this type of problem, but I can't know for sure. They seem to be less prone to fouling out. In the meantime, I just make sure I drive it somewhat aggressively once it has reached full operating temperature to keep oil from building up in the VCM cylinders while keeping the full synthetic oil level topped off. The engine light doesn't bother me. I had 4 out of 6 gunked up as well back when I did it. I really don't know, I might be wrong. Will the valve cover gaskets and seals replacement prevent oil from entering the ignition chambers? (I'm not a pro mechanic)
@ThePullUpKing5 ай бұрын
Replacing the tube seals is what stops the oil on the plugs.

Hey man. Nice video. But I have questions about the gasket. Why did you just apply only in the corners? Is it better put all the way around it? And do you put the sealant rtv on the cover first or after you put the gasket? Just curious sir. Thank you for this video!
@ThePullUpKing9 ай бұрын
Thanks! Those are the areas where oil will leak if sealant isn't applied. The gasket will seal the other areas. If the gasket doesn't stay in place, apply the sealant lightly, to hold the gasket to the cover.
