When you program these ECUs and modules on these modern cars, you need a flash programming power supply that supplies a constant voltage and varies the current as needed. Regular chargers are not the correct devices for flashing and programming.

@@SpartanAutoworx I bricked my 05 GTOs ecu....low voltage also damaged my PIM. So, not for me anymore. These ECUs are expensive.

Hey there, if the PCM IS REPLACED WILL THE BATTERY LIGHT START BLINKING? What would cause the battery to start blinking after pcm replacement? No issues with charging system at all.

I am swapping a 2006 GTO powertrain into an '80 Corvette. I have the original ECM, flashed to remove VATS. The car starts and runs. I was thinking of adding a PIM and BCM (if needed) to use the GTO gauge cluster (I have the car's original). Will this work to make an another 2006 GTO PIM/BCM run the gauges and MIL?

I recently bought a used ecu from another gto for my Ls3 gto swap, but I didn’t do a flash on it. Did a vats delete on it but it doesn’t crank nor start. Now it’s says something about immobilizer code. Was I supposed to reprogram the ecu to my car?

I dont think you can kill vats inside GTO tune. Have to use tune from corvette

HI, I have a 2005 GTO, pretty sure the computer went bad , when it heats up the car goes into safe mode. and i have replaced the throttle body and everything els tests fine, once it cools down runs great untill it heats up again. So I purchased a new ECU, vin was installed on it i was told, I have HP tuners, it will not even read the ECU now, I do know I have to link the PIM and the BCM and relearn the security code as well. Can I do this myself with outgoing to a dealer, reason is the car is in my barn, and will not start and even if i could get the car there who knows if they will be able to do this. And the car cannot be started anyhow since it does not have the loaded tune needed to even start, the car is supercharged among other things. I want to be able to do all this myself or with the help of a knowledgeable person in my barn and be done with it. I need some guidance on this please. TY

You will have to relink the pim and ecm. No way around that in order to get the car to start.

I have a 2005 GTO with a similar issue. Replaced the TB and it got rid of most of the issues. But, it still pops a Safe Mode intermittently, doesn't matter if I'm driving it hard or cruising on the highway. Did the new ECM fix the issue of putting the vehicle into safe mode?

If vats has been disabled. Not sure you can disable vats with GTO vin in hptuners. Maybe EFI live but not sure.

@@SpartanAutoworx So I could reprogram the one I have in the car or use a new one with new fobs, programmed the new one to the new fob but I am still getting the same codes and the car will not start believe that is the PCM. That is preventing it from cranking, can you private message me your number so we can text or talk?

I have a used BCM programmed it to new key fobs. Exact same issue you're having. Everything works after programming the keys but it's still not starting. Did you find a solution to this?

How do I get my PCM/ECU bench flashed to an OEM tune? I need to convert it back to an OEM tune before I can upload Magnuson Supercharger files to pass California smog. Been researching this for months and I’m told the ECU must be in the vehicle to put the OEM tune back in. Can’t do that as the supercharger has been in my vehicle for 10 years and don’t have original parts.

@@Mr-th5hw yes although it wasn't easy and was beyond my pay grade of understanding unfortunately but what little I did get was that my friends tuner had to crack the bcm to be compatible to the GTO or something like that but she runs and drives like normal

You replacing the pcm? Grand am has a different pcm and system. This link procedure will not work for that car. The SPS programming would be similar. Let us know what you have going on and we might be able to help.

@@SpartanAutoworx ok , my portable BT obd scanner i always leave plugged in randomly caught the obd port wires on fire and my gauges were going haywire. So i unplugged it and i went under the dash and got all the melted wire covers off, cleaned up the wires and retaped them . Everything has been working fine since that happened till recently. When i accerlate my headlights dim alittle bit like the electrical stuff loses some power. my battery & alternator where tested and are fine. The lights in my climate control went really dim permanently . when i turn on the A/C (that works perfectly fine) the empty fuel tank light comes on then the security light comes on and my gauges flatline till i turn the ac back off. Also recently , sometimes when i break the gauges flatline and the security light comes on , then all returns to normal a few seconds later. I am going to buy a new climate control module but i think it only went bad because im assuming the little fire caused a short in the pcm maybe ? I work on my cars always and know alot about cars but i do not know alot about pcm. Not to sure though , someone suggested that. Ill be able to see if more wires were damaged behind the climate control once i take it out to replace, But how likely is it that the fire shorted the pcm ? The car is very well maintained in excellent condition and i take care of it. I guess the fire was my fault i shouldnt have left the obd scanner plugged in 24/7. If you do have any ideas im all ears ! Ive searched everywhere and finding my specific wiring harness is completly impossible so im ruling out changing that.

Hi , I will be replacing my ecu in a hsv gto vz that has a custom tune with a second hand unit due to a faulty fuel enable from ecu to relay . before the swap would I have to reset the original ecu in the car first before removing and then put the second hand pcm in and change the vin to my faulty one , then load the program into ecu for a gto ls2 vz coope , then load the custom tune , then do the pim - ecu link only ?

A little confused here. E40 ECM I assume since you talked about the LS2. Using HP tuners install the new computer (replacement) Write the tune and change the vin. Then you will have to relink pim to ecm. The FUN Part

are you using the tech 2 to link the e40 ecm to pim through tis 2 web I have a clone version with the 142.001 software version , have down loaded the tis 2 web from acdelco purchased the vehicle specific $40 dollar subscription but I cannot communicate with the tech 2 when all pluged up to laptop keeps saying error . I am running windows 10 on pc . the car is a gto like yours

I do not use the tech2. Old brick technology. I would check the driver settings on the laptop. Also, make sure you use internet explorer to program. Do you have any com at all? Does it pull the vin? If you plan to do programming look into getting a drewtech. Unfortunately, most dealers are clueless when it comes to the GTO. So you will have to figure out whats going on with the com issues.

Hi , I am using the mongoose pro GM2 connected to ac delco sps programming changing the vin following all their requests it comes to vehicle data vz hsv coupe details It then asks auto or manual , I enter auto then wait and the on screen message is E 2701: no authorization to program the selected software.Now it wont allow me to proceed further .

On a GTO a vin swap wont get the car running again. Have to relink pim with ecm.

@@SpartanAutoworx relinking the PIM to ECM is an issue as well for a lot of GTOs. there are 609 vin # associated with this issue. the immobilizer code you need to link issued by factory, if it start with a "0" and any other "0" after will not be recognized as a number. My code is one of these that starts with 0 so as its trying to be linked i get incorrect code entry no matter what. currently trying to find a fix.

Off the service card that came with the car. If you dont have it you must have the dealer look up the service card and print it out. Good luck with it tho took my dealer almost a day to find that info for another car I did.
