GTO PIM to ECM Linking

General overview and discussion of the PIM Security Module in place on the GTO.
We discuss re linking the E40 ECM to the PIM Module in this video using GM SPS.

Hey if anyone still was wondering and needed this, I think I saw it on LS forums that you CAN LINK THE BCM PIM AND ECM AT THE SAME TIME using pretty much the same technique as programming the key fob... Just takes an extra 30 minutes and extra 10-10-10 before you start the car.

I am going thru this now. Car is at the dealership. I bought a replacement ecm but Bad part is they cant get the ecm to link to the pim due to a code error. After talking to the tech and both of us looking up solutions we found. A huge number of 05 gtos vin numbers, mine included. Have a factory issue where if your pin has a 0 in it, it won't recognize the 0 as a number.

Hmm not aware of 0 issue but could be.

@@Mr-th5hw yes. If you replace the main computer & it won't link due to the code error then you also need to replace a control module in the ignition (can't remember it's exact name). Then it will link up.

Is this off the Website or did you download the SPS software to your computer?

Its done online with SPS and JAVA

@@SpartanAutoworx I figured it out, SPS online didn't give me that option, but I have TIS2000 and was able to relink my modules. I also had to replace my PIM.....I had to get a dealership in Australia to find my IMMO code and BCM code. What a PITA! The only other way to retrieve codes is with an on board eeprom reader.

A couple of questions...are you using a battery maintainer while flashing your car? What device are you using as a pass through to program modules? Just having my Tech 2 hooked up and modules active with everything else turned off seems to drain the battery down quickly. I recently replaced my ECU I purchased preprogrammed from a company here in California. They state all that's required is a 30 minute key relearn. I have tried this many times with no results. The ECU has the code P0633, P1629 and the PIM has code B1019. I have a Tech 2 and TIS2000 along with online AC Delco TDS to perform a pass through if needed, but I don't have any of the security pass codes. What a PITA!🙄

I use many drew tech devices. I dont use Tech2. Depends on the flash im doing if I use a maintainer. Cant do a 30min vtd with gto if that is what you are working on.

@@SpartanAutoworx Yeah, I need to do the VTD relearn, but I don't have the security codes. I need to call the dealer for those. I think I'll try the pass through method using the Tech 2, but I bought the Schumacher INC 100 for the power supply this time around.

I'm having the same problem when trying to link PIM to ECM. I get error message PIM Link to ECM failed. I tried reset PIM and get error message PIM reset failed. The ECM reset does work. I tried reprogramming ECM and I get a unknown error during service programming event. Do you have any idea of what might be wrong, PC, ECM or Pass Thru device? I'm using the VCX NANO

I would use a tech2 or drewtech pass thru. Also MDI would work. Never had luck with anything when I was experimenting with vcx nano.

Currently trying to put a new ecm in my dads 2006 gto, he bought the car used and wasn’t given the pim code. Is there a way to get that code anywhere? Thanks in advance

Good luck, every dealer seem to be unknowlegable about the GTO and codes in general. All I heard was, I have never heard of that. I called GM Executive number etc....they are all mostly ignorant about what your asking about.

When I try to link them it just says launching page then stays there then error sign comes on
