Replacing A Amtrol Fill-Trol Expansion Tank

Thanks so much. My system wasn’t filling and neither of the techs figured out why. Before I let them charge me $2400 to replace a backflow and add a PRV, I used your video to figure out that low pressure in my Amtrol tank was the only thing preventing water from coming in. It’s too bad they’d never seen a Fill-Trol before because I wasted time and money thinking it was a bad check valve and replaced it before figuring out the real issue. Heat restored!

Just wondering why you just did remove and replace with a extro 30 and a fill valve

Yes Filtrol is NOT the same as an Extrol. Tech tip: in a pinch use a 1/2” female x female hose adapter and temporarily mount the Extrol to a purge station or washing machine hose to a boiler drain. I see about 3 Filtrol tanks a year and convert to a #30 Extrol with Watts s1156f
