The AC Compressor in the Ferrari F430 is known to fail fairly frequently. The good news is that it's not very difficult to replace and can be done at home with fairly simple tools. You will need to get an AC gauge kit, along with vacuum pump, scale, and R134a refrigerant. The AC compressor runs from about $200-500 depending where you get it. You can also send out the AC compressor to have it rebuilt. Replacing a failed AC compressor can be done in only a few hours and save you many thousands of dollars VS taking it to a dealership.

Nice job especially using a scale to weigh in the refrigerant. I would have shown the purging of the yellow hose with refrigerant at the manifold. Its an important step to avoid adding a hose worth of air.

Mo!!!!!! We have a Mo sighting! Hooray! That was easy. Removing the under trays seemed more tedious than the compressor. Glad you didn’t have to do the condenser and/or the dryer. Nicely done.

If the AC compressor failed did you clean the system for metal debris? I am in the same process of replacing my AC compressor on my c63. Low miles as as well, just looking for advice. Thanks Dan and great to see Moses is back, been subscribed since the first f430 oil change!

I did the AC on my R34 GTR recently and i cant beleive how much cheaper an F430 AC compressor is than a R34. The Ferrari also looks much more accessible and easy to do. Even the high and low pressure valves are better positioned. Mine had piping in the way of the Low pressure line... couldn't fit the bulky connector without removing parts of the hotside.

Nice to see the ac compressor job on an f430 is decently easy. I Wished the ac replacement on the V8 audi R8 was that easy to access.

Could probably be the clutch coil only, take the front pulley off, the coil is there and keep as spare

You can pull a vacuum from both sides. Using a micron gauge is better, try to get to at least 500 microns. When charging liquid, always charge to the high side. The low side is only designed to pump vapor. Once the compressor is running, then you can turn the tank up and charge vapor.

Hi Dan , nice video , but you forget a very important piece of doing a/c . You didn't replace the orifice tube . It a small filter in the system , it does avery important job .

@@normalguysupercar, oh , I forgot . Replace the dryer as well. At the same time , the dissecant will keep the system in balance , ie. The compressor oil clean , and remove water 💧.

Do you know what the amp draw is from the ac compressor , my ac 7.5 amp fuse is blown , is it the compressor coil or something else

My 2016 Maserati GranTurismo AC compressor died after a rat chewed on the wires and caused it to arc out, thankfully my car did not catch on fire. My factory warranty paid for the AC compressor and the labor at the dealership to replace it. The 360, F430 and 458 use the same AC compressor as the Maserati GranTurismo and Gen 5 QP, it was made by Delphi. Since the warranty paid for it I was not too worried but that would have been about 2,500 dollars after taxes at Maserati of Nashville (Carlock Motors).

I'm not so sure tank "upside down" is a good idea. Sending that liquid right into the compressors intake could blow out a valve or piston. Professional A/C machines usually have the tank right side up to avoid hydro locking the system.

A few things wrong here (I'll save the best for last): 1. The problem may have been the clutch, in which case it is replaceable at a low cost - hopefully you tested that; 2. If it wasn't clutch it likely had a piston failure in which case you have particulate circulating throughout the system, which will kill your new compressor in a short period of time. YOU NEED TO REMOVE AND FLUSH THE LINES PRIOR TO THE NEW COMPRESSOR INSTALL; and 3. who puts a Chinese knockoff compressor on a clean F430???? This is a shame because this part WILL fail for the next owner hands down. This is why I service my Ferrari myself. That way, it's done right, the first time.
