Replacing a Burnt out motor on a faulty Makita HR3540C rotary tool hammer.

These makita HR3540C hammers are not the biggest of the strongest hammers you can buy. Buy due to their small, light size and rotary function, theu are extremely popular sds max boarding hammers.
Thier small size and weight makes them perfect for jobs like boaring cavity walls for pumping insulation.
They are a very comfortable hammer to use.
This burnt out motor is a common problem for them as they do thend to get overworked.
But that is not to say they don't earn their money before hand. This one has clearly done quite a bit of work before burning out.
Luckily, as they are very popular and readily available, a new armature is quite well priced.
This full repair only cost 150 euro, compared to over 600 for a new replacement hammer.

Hi, Ive got an HM0871C that's not working. it started smoking from the motor area and I suspect either the field or the armature. Is there a way of working out which it is? Which do you find is the usual suspect? There is no obvious burn marks on either.
