I always appreciate anyone who takes the time to shoot a video to help others. Having said that, the video is awful. I can't make heads or tails out of what you are trying to show us. Good lighting, a steady hand and pointing out what we are supposed to be looking for is always most helpful. Cudos to those who found this helpful and cudos to you for trying.

Volvo dealership told me $1600 to replace it. Thank you for your video, I’m gonna replace it myself!!

I am happy that I inspired someone to do it by themselves. I did not call volvo on purpose because i am sure they would have made me curse a lot after i hear the price. I this 1600 including the part or not. Also keep in mind volvo most likely removes the full dash because they wont be breaking the screw as most people do on the internet this is why it will be more expensive and also i prefer my dashboard not to be removed.

Great video mate. Great! I'm disabled from a motorcycle wreck 10 yr ago and I'm 6'2" tall and 290lbs. I watched the entire video. I'm 52, stubborn but gonna price replacement tomorrow. And labor included. I just don't think I can do it. I own 06 XC90. If you were nearby I'd pay you $300 in labor to do it. Thanks again mate. Charlie

Update a year later (not even year later). The fan started to stop and start without any apperant reason. i will try to find from where i bought it to let you know not to use the same supplier.

The place I went to told me it would cost $1887. I’m so glad I found this video. Is there any specific tools I would need for this? I wanna make sure I have everything I need to replace it
@jumpingPeter
@jumpingPeter 2 жыл бұрын

I am admittedly a little concerned when you are willing to undertake such a job, but shy away from unplugging the battery - literally a 30 second operation.

i wanted to but realized i need light then i realized it can fall on my head still spinning. so the solution is to have some separate light source and unplug the battery

@@jumpingPeter Thanks for the reply. Noone among us is innocent from taking a shortcut that in hindsight we would do differently. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for this man. I’m on my fourth blower motor in 10 years. I’ll be doing it when it warms up. Intermittent. It was about 800 bucks per pop at the dealer. You recommend doing the resistor at the same time?
@jumpingPeter
@jumpingPeter 2 жыл бұрын
Yes because it is a lot of work to disassemble it so it is not worth the risk

@@jumpingPeter It finally died last night. It is finally warm outside so I am ready. Ordered from fcpeuro, about $150 both fan and resistor TOTAL. Again thank you from USA.

My car is a right hand drive UK car, is it a similar procedure.
@jumpingPeter
@jumpingPeter Жыл бұрын
I would assume yes because i bought a fan from one junk yard and they had RHD fans and they were mirror image. Procedure will be the same question is if you have easy access to all 4 screws. if you dont you have to sacrifice one of them. But this is small tradeoff for the work/money savings you will have. Also have to add that this car has not very good A/C especially for places like Dubai where i live
