Replacing a figure 8 liner or T bar

how do figure out the size need for it the t bar came out of the frame i have with lens

I use the old piece to measure out the new piece. If you don't have the old piece then you need a piece that at least spans the top of the frame. But not so long that it covers the ends of the eye wire. There needs to be sufficient room for the eye wire to fold over. So there is quite a lot of range the size can be. Just think that the more there is, the more that is holding the lens in. You can just hold the new liner where you want to finish and string it along the frame till where you want it to end. If you get it in and it's too long you can push it out just a bit and snip it shorter.
