Replacing A Tap Washer (UK Type)

I am in the process of adding a solar dump to heat my water. Before finishing that I had a leaky tap in the galley that had been leaking for months, so I decided it was about time I fixed it. This video is how I go about fixing a leaky tap.

It is a very easy job once you know how. My next DIY job is not quite as easy that I have just finished wiring. Putting in a solar dump to heat the water.

That was a simple job. next weeks. it should be next weeks anyway is a little more tricky. Using any excess solar power to heat the hot water tank. It take me back to my college days when I took electrical engineering. I had to use skills I had not used in over 45 years. I never used it in any of my jobs.

Oh the irony of this! I've just paid a plumber to fix one of my taps because I could not figure out how to get the tap open to change the washer. I watched him do it & was kicking myself. Next stop B&Q for a wrench! This is really helpful though because it'll be good to come back to if I need to do it myself some day! 👍

I call that a cheater pipe, also handy for use on a socket wrench or breaker bar.
