Wow! Dodge has appeared to have TIPM issues for years now. The wife's Dodge Nitro years ago would randomly not start, headlights on and off all night, power locks not working, and other issues..... I told her I had absolutely no idea and never seen anything like this before. I used Circuit Board Medics to rebuild the unit and it fixed everything. I also have a Dodge Dakota I need to do the same for.
@BigfootDadExploresMontana2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Michael! Yes, it's also evident by the different TIPM rebuilders out there. From what I understand, the Mopar brand is known for electrical issues, and this is only one of a few that I've had. Thank you for the rec on Circuit Board Medics - others will find this helpful too. Good luck on the Dakota and thank you for your comment! 😎

Thanks for this video. My 2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn has many electrical issues. Windshield wipers stop working intermittently, radio acts up in cold weather, and now my right front headlight assembly is dead. So, I just purchased a rebuilt TIPM for my truck from Mak's. I hope this does the trick.

Hi, Garry! Thank you for the feedback. How did the install of the TIPM go? Hopefully it solved your issues. I'm curious of your outcome.

Hi, Terry - I hope not as well. It's a little unnerving not knowing when the battery will be dead. Thank you for your comment and I'll keep the heaters running!

I think some late model Mopar have a recall on the tipm fuel pump relay, they put an external relay to bypass the tipm one. WatchJRGo had a recent video about it on his Dodge Durango (and is friends with a dealer tech so we get to see the official fix)
@BigfootDadExploresMontana2 жыл бұрын
Hi, rpavlik1 - I found some similar subjects on this during my research, including a video of a gentleman bypassing the fuel pump relay on a 2016 Ram, I believe it was. I'm glad info like that exists on KZbin to help us out in a pinch, because we never know when we might be stranded in a gas station parking lot so far away from home. 😅
@TOXIC-jq3ry2 жыл бұрын
there's a guy who's an engineer and was a tech for Chrysler who made his own bypass and sells them for $30 with LEDs on them to help diagnose if it's the pump or relay and also bypasses the relay if needed. buying one tomorrow

TIPM issues with my dodge grand caravan van is it a replacement for my van in thanks
@deannal36782 жыл бұрын
I suspect a TIPM problem in my 2013 chrysler town and country. The battery drains to 12.4 at rest. Could I theoretically test the fuel pump relay by taking it out and checking the battery after it's sat for a while?
@BigfootDadExploresMontana2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Deanna. I am not an expert in automotive electrical systems, so I am hoping someone can jump in here and give you a better answer. Yes, if the fuel pump relay in your model is actually removeable (unlike mine that is soldered straight to the board), you could take out the fuel pump relay overnight and see if it helps your situation by morning. If so, the relay theoretically could be the culprit. Can anyone else help Deanna here?
@brucehaslett8057 Жыл бұрын
Hello Bigfoot Dad. If a relay can come loose during "shipping," how is it going to hold up during use on the roads in your area? Looks like pretty rough terrain out there.
@BigfootDadExploresMontana Жыл бұрын
Hi, Bruce - you know, I was wondering the same thing and I really don't have an answer for this. Aside from someone dropkicking the package, I am just not entirely sure why any of these would work their way loose as compared to normal Montana off-road driving. I'm curious to see if any of them worked their way back out again a few months later. Maybe that's where my parasitic draw is coming from... because it's back! 😅

Hi, Clifton - here is a link to the website where I got mine: tipmrebuilders.com/ The folks there are also very good with their inquiries, so it might be worth giving them a call for further assistance. Good luck and hopefully you can get that fuel pump relay solved!
@davekinsler99712 жыл бұрын
Did you measure the parasitic draw before and after? Wondering what the values were. I have the same problem right now. Pulled every fuse and relay, problem still there. Disconnected the alternator, problem still there. Getting about 3 amp draw.

Hi, Dave! Very sorry to hear that you're having the same issue. I'll update this in an upcoming video, but... this didn't fix my issue. 😥 I'm considering the radio next. I'm sure I look like a criminal as I stand outside my Ram after I lock it or before I unlock it - just staring in the window trying to see what might still be powered on. But to answer your question, yes, before I replaced the TIPM, it measured at 300ma, which is right in spec. Would you mind keeping me updated, please, on what you find on yours? I'll post updates on my side too. Thank you, and welcome to our community! 😎

@BigfootDadExploresMontana2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Dooglle Rooblle - yes, I may have made a breakthrough! No, it was not the TIPM, but the next thing I tried seems to have solved it. I can't be 100% sure yet, but if you want some insight, DM me on Instagram and I'll tell you what I've found so far.

@@BigfootDadExploresMontana ill check you out on insta. Thanks for the reply. One thing I found on my truck that finally resolved the issue was my wire harness to my starter had a corroded pin. Replace the harness. So far so good....🤞

@@BigfootDadExploresMontana 2017 Ram 1500 5.7. Not sure if I have the problem or not. could be just abused my 2 year old interstate battery (wet cell). Interstate says battery good, but they're judge and jury. 6-7 jumps in under one year, but never after just sitting. Every time after using accessories but almost always lately after just a few minutes (about 15) after opening windows then back up when done. Lately attempting to "catch" a hot fuel pump fuse before starting (multimeter on top fuse prong to ground)... no amps so far. Only parasitic test attempted was thorough and resulted in acceptable mA. What did you find lately?

Hello. In short, I don't have a solution yet and don't want to lead a lot of people into expensive quests that won't work. Spent a little over $3K and just when I think it's solved, it comes back. Right now it remains unsolved as the issue just cropped up again. Once I come up with a solution that lasts, I'll be sure to post up a video. Hope this helps with your question. I'd be glad to discuss more on IG DM.
