I have a friend that didn't wear gloves when handling sewage items, one time he was working in a tight area and ended up scraping his hands up trying to reach in, he ended up losing both hands due to infection. Wear gloves when handling human waste..

ha!..funny video...should have been named "let me go do off camera what you came her to watch me do" but on the positive side, he showed a tool, the PVC pipe cutter, that many do not know about.

So what do you do ten years from now if you have to replace the flange again?

Those are for Cast Iron. Did they make a new PVC version for when you bore out old one

About 7 years ago, I fixed a broken flange by using super glue together. It has been working good and no leaking since then. Recently, the renter wanted to replace a new toilet and she is definitely abused it. There is no law to mandate the landlord must replace a new toilet after five years. The toilet is still a very good condition. I promised to replace it, but I do worry about that I might need to replace the flange which is a hard thing to do. So, I need to watch more video about the replacement of it.

No need to replace the toilet, just the broken flange. Did you have any trouble fixing it?
@scottminyard3382 Жыл бұрын
Do it right next time. Cut it down a little lower and use a 3” coupling and stub a piece of 3” up thru the floor, wrap some card board or 1/2” thick pipe insulation around the pipe the thickness of the floor and about 1” past the floor and pour hydraulic cement around your pipe, let it set up good and then use the legal closet flange and not the reduced size which is illegal. I know you don’t care what is legal or illegal but your toilet will stop up easier with the flange you used, plus the inside of the pipe is not made to glue into.

You should have made an accompanying video to best illustrate more what you did. It's really hard to imagine what was written visually.

I’m facing this issue now. Are you a plumber. Your advice sounds solid! Are you open to exchanging info to take a question or two? Toilet was rocky inside to side and I discovered that the flange ( in cement/tile ) was cracked and needed to be replaced.

I'm not a professional, but could he have put the screws in first or while filling around the pipe? So that the concrete would dry and form around the screws?
@wheatonnaАй бұрын
Better still, pour the concrete before installing the flange. Why not?

Wtf, dont use the concrete. Also they sell a flange fixer at home depot.

Perhaps you SHOULD have shown the actual cutting of the flange away from the pipe. I face the same situation and have to take the flange OFF of the pipe which a stupid plumber used plumber's adhesive to meld the flange and pipe together, never to have it removed EVER - instead of using two stainless steel screws into drilled holes with anchors. What an idiot. I immensely missed you removing it which could have helped me going into the job to tackle it as I was afraid of damaging the actual 4" service pipe to the flange. sad...

I installed my toilet flange not on top of the tiles but as level of my tiles, is that bad or good ?
@ifonlyifonly37562 жыл бұрын
Not good, flange should be just above the finished floor
@michaelmcgee20262 жыл бұрын
Should sit above the finished floor but not the end of the world. They make flange extensions that you just set on top of the existing flange
@HsingSun3 жыл бұрын
When you said, "I will be come back," you missed those parts? You did not show exactly how you glue together the flange and the bottom pipe.
@timsdiyclub18623 жыл бұрын
more thorough
@timsdiyclub18623 жыл бұрын
You are correct...I did neglect to show how I mounted the new flange to the pipe. I did not glue it...it is designed to just slip into the existing plumbing pipe and be screwed to the floor. I also failed to show that also. For that I used "Pour-Rock" and screwed the flange down using Tapcon screws. I apologize for not being more thorough.

@timsdiyclub18623 жыл бұрын
I used what they call "pour rock". You may find it under a different name. I Used it in other applications setting posts in a concrete sidewalk. You can mix it to a consistency that you can pour down through the slots for the commode mounting screws. It dries hard in 30 minutes or less
