Dude, my guy, im a trade mechanic, never seen anyone use an oil can to fill a brake or clutch reservoir or even back bleed it. Genius dude im going to buy another oil can tomorrow hahahaha. Good video

Thanks so much for this info. I changed the slave on my Toyota and could not get it to bleed. I found this video and fixed it in ten min. I used a small piece of tubing and a turkey injector. Thanks again.

This is my configuration, 200tdi and LT77...(in an '83 Hi-cap 110). I'm getting a loss of clutch pressure when the vehicle has been parked for a week. Some comes back with staring the engine and pumping the clutch but it's not the best. I'm being advised that the master cylinder must be leaking so I should gat a new one along with a new slave cylinder, but I see no leakage evident on the ground. If the master cylinder is indeed leaking, could the lost fluid be accumulating somewhere ???

Always great to find my way back to one of your videos Chris. Found out that the slave cylinder on my Discovery popped outside of the house yesterday, seemed like the fluid just got low but while attempting to bleed the fluid just kept disappearing. I soon found it once I removed the wading plug. Do you know if there are parts to eliminate the clutch damper on a Disco 1? Mine has it but I'd rather get rid to save hassle, I have spare copper line if I need to make one up myself.

Why do you need to loosen off the union end first before you start reverse bleeding?

One more question for you while doing the reverse bleed, did you leave the cap off of the reservoir up top?

ive heard it is still possible to drive with a leaking slave cylinder for months,until the leak becomes real bad,just keep topped up and bleed when the peddle starts to drop is this right or is it best to get it replaced asap.
@trailerfitter210 жыл бұрын
yes of course but there maybe the time that topping up will not help you.
@3rk4u10 жыл бұрын
***** lol that time is now cant bleed or get the pedal back as to much air in the system.also have a merc so has to be back bled from the slave cylinder thanks for the vid.

What about a stiff and squeaky clutch? I have been seeing some chatter about adding oil or grease to the pushrod pin(s) for the pedal.
@trailerfitter28 жыл бұрын
+Shane more like the clutch pressure plate fingers are not in good condition and / or the lever has wear in the wrong place.

Thank you. Appreciate your videos, as well as the feedback. Just had my clutch replaced a year ago, as well as having the top end of the engine rebuilt. Clutch seems to have gotten heavy and squeaky. Will investigate. Thank you again :)

Easy, unless you have a td4 where they've put the slave cylinder in the bell housing, meaning that any leaks will cause plate contamination

@devonrod9 жыл бұрын
are all the V8 slave cylinders the same, just different pipe fittings ?
@trailerfitter29 жыл бұрын
+devonrod I would say no simply because of the differing models of V8 Land Rovers. You'd need to check with a VIN number to find the right one you need.

Hi there I'm about to replace my clutch slave and master on my td5 110 can I reverse bleed both ? Thanks ,
@trailerfitter27 жыл бұрын
Yes. always do that first then bleed out normally.

Reverse bleed brakes as well as clutch? Wouldn't the same advantages of air bubbles rising apply? Should be faster and superior?
@trailerfitter28 жыл бұрын
It helps if you are having issues usually on the rear brakes of a 110 or 90 at times for sure. Even if it is to first fill the lines with fluid.

when bleeding, i presume you should strive to keep as much air out of the tubing as you can, am I right?
@trailerfitter28 жыл бұрын
You do not any air in the tubing but if you are starting from dry then any air at the start of the piping will be forced out the top.
@RAPPATENGO5 жыл бұрын
Yes prime the plastic tubing with the brake fluid and push all of the air out if possible

Perhaps it is linked to the brake master cylinder. Or, if like Iveco vans, has a sealed system.???

My clutch has gone flat to the floor and stays there. I have to pull it up to the top by hand, what does this mean?
@trailerfitter211 жыл бұрын
means that you have not enough fluid in the system to maintain any hydraulic action. I bet this is on a Discovery?
@tomtubeboob11 жыл бұрын
Thats right a disco :). I was just driving along and the clutch just dropped to the floor and stayed there. Fluid was at the top though. So i pulled the engine out, changed the clutch, slave cylinder, thrust bearing, clutch fork and rear crank seal. But the clutch pedal still stays to the floor so I cant bleed the system. But I don't want to put the engine back in yet incase I've done something wrong. Could it be the pedals broken or will the reverse bleeding like you demonstrated sort it out? I haven't had time to look at the car for a week now :/
@trailerfitter211 жыл бұрын
can you pull the pedal off the floor and lift it to the correct position? You'll not be able to bleed up the pedal until the engine is in place
@tomtubeboob11 жыл бұрын
Yeah it does pull back into place by hand. Ok I will slam the engine back in and see how it goes. Cheers

don't you mean a Clutch " Surrogate" ??? Jaguar Land Rover bosses have been accused of 'wokery' after the firm ditched the word "slave" to describe car parts. The engineering term has been used by manufacturers worldwide for years with master and slave common terms for describing parts that work together. Staff at the car giant's #Solihull plant will now use the word "surrogates" when referring to parts used in their vehicles. The Sun newspaper, which first reported the change, quoted a source who said workers had made a "fuss". Jaguar Land Rover confirmed the change was requested by workers. A spokesperson for the manufacturer said it fully supported the move.
