When you are removing/replacing the chips, vs caps, do you change the temp of the solder gun? Or thinner solder ?

I do most of my board work at 350 C. If I am working on header pins or an older power supply I usually use 365-375 or maybe even 400 if a power supply with huge traces that suck off the heat. That said, all those numbers are different with my travel iron, it seems to run about 25 degrees hotter it seems. My suggestion would be just hot enough to quickly melt the solder....adding fresh solder helps tremendously.
