Bought your kit off ebay - followed this video - there are a few bits I struggled with at first - I didn't have a grinder so used a dremmel to grind the inner race of the bearing off - Mine didn't just pull off like on the video after grinding two flats out - I had to pretty much split the metal ring with the grinder and persuade off with mole grips. I also found it difficult to get the screw into the 5p and keep it lined up with the outer race of the bearing to remove that. That said I couldn't have done this without the video and your kit saved me over £60 compared to replacing the arm so thanks a lot.

Thank you for an excellent video. I followed each step and found the job surprisingly straightforward. Completely unlike the explanations in that well known series of otherwise brilliant manuals that often seem to miss out the four hours needed for persuading the parts to separate in order to do the thirty minute fix. The 5p piece trick was clever, but I needed to drill a hole in it to get the screw to start. Everything else was spot on, and the wipers are now working perfectly.

Fitted the bearing to my 2019 520d touring. Great kit! Simple once I had got the exceptionally stubborn bearing cage out. I used some heat and finally knocked it out. Great video!

Thank you for your clear explanation and video. The parts arrived very quickly and all fitted. The 5p bit was fiddly, but worked well for me in the end. I only had access to an angle grinder so may not have done the tidiest job but it's all working perfectly!

Well done, good solution. Ive just fitted this kit - couldn't follow your instructions as typically the outer bearing was stuck in the large linkage and the inner was stuck in the small arm but got there. No more arm coming off or when it did manage to stay on made a knocking noise . All is well again, thanks

Just did this, as per the other comments the 5p just turned, I used another much finer self tapper from the opposite side, this gave enough grip to stop the coin turning then I could tighten the coarse self tapper. I only did one of the 2 bearings, the outer bearing seemed fine so I didn't bother. Delivery of the kit was quick to Belgium and it had everything I needed apart from the fine self tapper and the 5p :)

hi fab.... great product. As per John Davey i couldn't stop the 5p turning and that approach just didn't work for me. I have a 59 plate E60 and the bearing casing just wouldn't come out due to the large lip keeping it in and had to use the dremmel to remove the lip all round and cut through the casing in 2 places to allow it to break. Also, when you say "grind rivet off" @1:16 it took me a while to work this out but after the sides its the top that needs grinding away. If this is ground down a little further than you show, the hole for the screw becomes apparent and no drilling is needed and would negate the need for your kit to contain the 4 drill bits. Hope that helps others too. So much better than going to BMW. Thank you.

I had the exact same issues as you - I had to grind the lip off to remove the inner race of the bearing and struggled with getting the screw into the 5p whilst keeping it lined up with the bearing casing - I ended up using a socket that just fit into the arm hole then placed the 5p on top, lining up into the bearing casing then pushing down on the screw to force it against the socket so it didn't spin when trying to turn the screw - quite fiddly but got there in the end.

£79.99 for the new part from BMW so I purchased this kit from eBay. It came super fast (next morning) and I installed it without too much trouble. The 5p thing didn't work for me, I teased the outer case of the bearing out by using a small chisel and kept hitting it opposite sides.

5p part doesn't work. I ended up grinding 2 sides on bearing. Apart from that got everything fixed! Thanks

Very helpful and informative video - thank you. This happened to my 2009 BMW 520d. As a tempory fix I drilled a small hole in the centre part of the disintegrated bearing, placed a washer on top that covered the large hole on the arm and screwed in a self tapping screw. It did the job until the bearings arrived. Thanks again. Best wishes. Will

Trying to fit this kit now, can I just ask.. how you you keep the 5p from turning inside the beating while you are tightening the screw to expand it?

it can help to have a second person hold it with a small screwdriver in the slot you have cut
