Finally the next episode! Btw: The small little Caps on the A-pillar which are sayin HPS (guess it means head protecting system) are available on the Euro Spec cars here under 51432251367. Only difference is that they are saying "Airbag" and not "HPS". But i guess that doesn't matter. ;)

Just did windscreen gasket. OE. Had to cut much silicone from under the screen before it would seat. Original green tint, rain sensor 'screen. Pulled rain gutters to make seating the corners easier. Cowl next. I see now I'm missing the triangular outer cowl pieces. Just realized it's draining into the fender, ECU etc. Not cool.

how were ytou able to cut enough for the channel of the gasket to fit? i tried to cut with a blade and i can only get an angle cut which still wont seat the gasket. please help

You said you are in Escondido? I lived in San Diego for 30 years until 10 years ago. In 06-07 I had an 03 530i. I loved that car. The best driving car I have ever had. The 3 litre i6 was plenty of engine for me and I actually had to be careful to keep it under 100. Lol I really like the color of that one. Really beautiful.

You probably know already or have done this retrofit, but if you don't, the e60 washer jets can be fitted for a nicer fan style spray. You need a couple NRV for intensive wash but they work amazing.

I am aware of the retrofit, though I have not done it since I never use that system. Thanks though!

E39 cooling systems should be refreshed every ~10 years. I would recommend replacement of the fan clutch, fan blades, electric fan, radiator, thermostat, water pump, expansion tank, and all coolant hoses/lines/sensors.

Hi Ryan 👋 unrelated but I can't find this weird unique feature, again compared 530i, suddenly, and while driving, I hear the 3X bell sound tung tung tung ??? It happened yesterday twice & today again twice "tung tung tung" 🙄 is this a hidden ⚠️ warning sound & no illuminated SES. Thanks

Was this happening at the top of the hour, each hour? It sounds like the 'memo' feature that beeps a few times to notify you of the time.

Hi Ryan, do you have the parts # for the 2 plastic side pieces on the ends of the windsheild wiper cowl? and where did the HAHAAMG plate go??
@E39Source3 жыл бұрын
Sure! Left: bit.ly/3AQutXa Right: bit.ly/3ANBoAc The HAHA AMG plate is framed in my office. Ohio registration came due, which required an emissions check in the state. I couldn't justify shipping the car back to Ohio every two years to be able to keep the plate. I have a fun California plate on order.

Those are the Bimmian pedals, made to mimic the Genuine BMW performance pedals, but actually fit the M5's longer throttle. They have been NLA for years, unfortunately.

So, was it actually necessary to remove the A-pillars for the windshield replacement? I wouldn’t think so, and I really hope not because it’s very easy to break the plastic tabs inside those very expensive A-pillars.
@E39Source3 жыл бұрын
Probably not? It just depends if the installer is comfortable working/scraping/using water around them. I would personally want them removed and put somewhere safe.

@E39Source3 жыл бұрын
It has some corrosion on under-body welds, but nothing major. It did go through 14 Ohio winters, after all. I have cleaned the majority of the under-body, so it presents quite well. The plastics and rubbers are all pretty fresh.
