People need to stop complaining and understand what the systems are for. It's a fire alarm, it's not meant to relax you. Before he retired, my dad worked for the township and they did a fire drill the system was changed to EST system with EST integrity horn strobes in the old section and voice evac in the new sections/additions. Keep in mind, these are all adults and they wined like little kids "That hurts my ears!"

@@tw3145wallenstein in my last semester of college they did a fire drill at around 8:00 pm and I was waiting for a friend to get the pizza we ordered since I couldn’t carry it with my crutches and the interconnected smoke detector with sounder base was right above my head and that high pitched sound felt like it was piercing my head. It was still warm outside so I didn’t even put my shoes on. I grabbed my crutches and ID and got the hell out of dodge! By the time I got outside I had a headache.

As a firefighter when we were dispatched to a fire alarm call, when giving an arrival size-up if there was an audible alarm heard we would say alarm bells were ringing. We had many old systems like this (Late 80s into the 90s). Or “bells & lights” if both audible & visual alarms were found. Many of the old timers still use this terminology. Lol, a nice throwback!

Replacing the bells with the scissor lift looks so nice, all the time i’ve done bell replacements was just with a stepladder and it’s not easy

bells are easy you don't really need a lift it was just there so I thought I would use it and zip down the hallways so others could use the ladders in the tighter areas

@@nics-systems-electric with a 6ft stepladder with your arms all the way out it’s not very easy, and adding on to that, my company installed Edwards LED Genesis single gang horns, which don’t have brackets so they’re more painful to install

Oh cool!! That 6500 annunciator has exactly as I long suspected with these units; an Edwards electromechanical horn buzzer which is what was used in the original Honeywell TC49A household smoke alarms/detectors back in the mid 70’s. Always wanted to see what those looked like inside and that one appears to be circa 1972. Very very cool vintage system and as sad as it is to see it getting retired you know what this means…more Durabels for New Years 2024/25!

Aaah... There's a blast to my childhood... I had those bells right through my school life - and, in high school, they did double duty as the end of session bells, too. Never knew that kicking a button off the wall would activate the fire alarm until I came out of a classroom where I had been talking to a teacher to find the alarm going off and the button assembly at 45 degrees from the wall...

Those old Edwards pulls with protective guards over them in the gymnasium, I would've also put some kind of protection over the new NBG-12LX pulls, preferably STI's Stopper II covers. I've often seen that with newer fire alarm systems in a building with a gymnasium, as more often than not they may have Stopper covers over the gymnasium pulls but not the others.

What precautions do you have to put in place when putting a schools fire alarm out of service? I imagine it's done over the holidays, so theirs nobody there whilst this takes place, but what happens overnight, is the building left unattended without fire alarms? (I'm from NZ, so not sure of when school holidays are for NA)

What would you do if you and your family were on vacation or something (just not at home for a while) and you got a notification that the alarms are going off at your house. Would you immediately call the fire department or would you have a neighbor check your house? Also, have you considered creating a Discord server for your viewers to chat on?

05:42 An L-Series horn strobe that has the date code of 3033 which is close to 3034 and 3035 as that's the numbers of the recalled low frequency sounders. But if you were able to order a batch of low frequency sounders on this date then you would likely get a recalled one due to the time you order them will give you this certain date code batch of devices and it depends on the area you live in

I have a question. On some BG12lx I see a second keyhole on the I of the FIRE or the side and I don't know what is it for?. Sometimes I see some break glass call points by system sensor also have a second keyhole on the side.

No I said in the video that's it's still fully operational but is being replaced pre-emptive and to eventually get the whole school district Notifier.

Needs to be listed under the compatibility list of that panel to have been tested and have an updated current draw rating for doing calculations therefore a usual upgrade replaces the A/V devices
