Head light bulb replacement on a 2009 audi a4 with halogen headlights

No need to remove the headlights. Just pull out the air intake duct, lift the air box and tilt it forwards as it comes up, and you have access to the rubber cap on the back of the headlamp. The cap has a tab which you can pull on to release it. On the left of the car you already have full access to the back of the headlamp so go straight to the rubber cap.

Disagree, there are more bolts on the air intake than there are on the headlamp fixture. And you're not going to be able to get that bulb pigtail out, there are 3 metal tabs and you need to push at least one of them with a screwdriver. What are you going to do, just rip it out of there? Taking the fixture out only takes a few minutes. On the left, the "access" is about 3"

I was going the route of removing the airbox and I'm so glad I saw this video. No way. Removing the headlight is 100x easier.

I just changed both bulbs in the driver's side. It was very easy, I'm happy to say. I initially had trouble butting the bulb back into the assembly. The wires for the connecting assembly were stiff as they had been in that place since new. So, I unplugged the bulb then rotated the bulb before inserting the bulb into the wire assembly. Everything lined up nicely then when pushing it all back into place. Thanks for the video! It gave me confidence and info to do the job.

The 2 lower torx screws don't need to be removed entirely, just loosen them half way. It's easier if you don't remove them as when refitting them is a pain and if you drop one into the engine bay then it makes things worse. The headlamp will slide out perfectly if you loosen them, and will slide in fine too.

$600 just for labor cost? Even for dealers, can't imagine that they would charge you that much. Are you changing from halogen or HID to LED headlights?

Thanks for this -- very helpful. I have the same car/ year and this made it easy. The only modification which I saw in another vid is that of the 4 screws on the headlight fixture, only one (on top) needs to be removed. The others are just loosened so it can slide out. Use a T30 torx for all and long enough (about 8") that it can reach the bottom screw on the passenger side.

Hi, could you tell me if the electric adjustment of the headlamp height is only for the low beam?I have the same headlight and when I regulate with the knurled wheel only the low beam, go up and down, this is ok? or they should raise and lower the high beam too?Thanks

Headlight bulbs? H7s are daytime driving lights. The actual headlights are Xenon bulbs, the outer most bulbs on the headlight housing.

So much wrong info here. First, you do not have to remove the headlight at all to get to the bulbs, only remove the 2nd air intake piece he removed and then the side of the airbox that has a grommet on the far passenger side, carefully get your two hands (fingers) under that portion and gently pull up freeing up the airbox. Then move the airbox up slightly and over towards the engine to give you room (do not have to take the airbox out of the car). Second, the bulbs do not pull out, they twist counter-clockwise to remove. The locating tab is at a 10 or 11 o'clock position so be sure when installing the new bulb to gently locate the tab on the new bulb, gently push into place and then twist the bulb clockwise to lock into place. Third, DO NOT TOUCH THE NEW BULB WITH YOUR FINGERS, BE SURE TO USE A RAG, PAPER TOWEL OR CLOTH TO INSTALL.
