I'm also in Canada and had a small slow speed drop as well. I was able to find authentic parts for my bike as it is a Suzuki but similar to you, the duties and taxes costed a lot more than I expected. But moving forward, I will only buy bikes for which parts are readily available i.e the Japanese bikes. I love the royal enfield interceptor 650 and availability of parts was the only reason I didn't get that bike.

Yeah, and the dealer isn't much help for parts either. They really want you to go somewhere else to get the parts, even when I call for a filter he says "yes, but you can also go to...". Hopefully you and your bike are alright.

I didn't bother with the turn signals on the light as I didn't like the way they looked.

LED’s are the way to go. I keep my high beams on all the time. If people don’t like it tough $hit.

Yes, even with the high beams on you're still not as noticeable as a car. I try not to drive at night as well
