In this video we are once again on site to take down an old Hikvision camera system and replacing it with a new Unifi protect camera system. I put up a new rack and re-terminated the exiting cat 6 cables

In general Hikvision has better range of cameras than unifi lineup, but seems like they start to catch up to be good enough for smaller installs. Hikvision and all the typical brand NVR I would prefer the unifi one here as a business owner to make it more simple. As a tech guy I prefer the top quality Milestone system, combined with either Nest protect or unifi as an backup recording on my UDM.
@notathome13

Hikvision camera are certainly better quality of build and image than UniFi. Downside to UniFi is vendor lock-in. Hikvision support open protocols blue iris and alike can use.
@donwicks3540

Hikvision do make decent cameras, but there are security issues. HikVision’s NVRs also have outdated iOS and android software. Unifi cameras are expensive and are locked. I’m not against locking down equipment as long as the client understands what they are paying for. I tend to go DW or ICRealtime when I can.

(BTW, when do you now choose to use the Ubiquiti instead of these black ones?) REAL QUESTION. HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE MANUFACTURER LOGOS FROM THE PATCH PANELS? from what i see in your videos, your black patch panels are so nice and clean. perfectly clean. no logos at all. do you remove them? or do you have them shipped to you this way? thanks man! much appreciated! :)

Could you go through the process of adding users to a UDM SE on 3.0.18? New comer to UI and I can't find much info on it. I've come across someone saying there's no more "USERS" and its all just "ADMINS" now. Is that correct? How would you go about adding local admins if so, all I see is sending out email invites. How would I give say my 90 year old parents access to a doorbell camera? I have to set them up with an email and then sign them up with ubiquity? Your videos have been great with the migration to ubiquity gear. Cheers.

Question not about this vid but one for me. We will be moving to new warehouse and it will need about 70+ APs due to racking and contents. What AP would you recommend. It’s mostly for RF scanners and Honeywell voice units so 2.4 is all that is required. We have had hand off issues with new devices also even with dB and radio reduced. Have you ever come across this?

@@lukey3030 yeh I got that done recently for current warehouse as we went from Cisco to Ubi and tbh it was a bit of a waste of time as my own survey said the same. @petervandebeek5980
@petervandebeek5980 Жыл бұрын
Purple is for surveillance, so the only good choice for video camera's. They are optimized for simultaneous video streams. Red Pro is for the NAS (conventional file storage). Regular Red is just plain wrong. That type of drive will think for itself where to put the data on the disk. That will not work great with RAID controllers, since they should point out the position where to write down data.
