Replacing my Phrozen Sonic Mini 4k's Screen (+TIP how to avoid this!)

SO. I messed up. Let me show you how to fix the Phrozen Sonic Mini 4k's screen AND how to avoid it - - - It's super easy. If you're considering getting a resin 3D printer / are curious how they look inside / are a current owner - this video is for you!

Yeah, gonna need to do this. Was sick and left the vat on the unit partially full..... And didn't realize that there was a pinhole leak in the FEP...... Resin got in between the layers of the screen and next print caused the resin to cure and expand.....

Yikes, godspeed and don't sweat it. It happens. I greatly suggest investing in a pack of screen protectors for the future! It has been a lifesaver.

Thanks for this! I had a similar issue with resin getting on the screen and just replaced mine too. I lucked out and could buy a new one on Prime day when Phrozen had a 20% discount on their stuff at least.

Nice and simple walkthrough! I had a bad leak and the electric tape was all soaked and shriveled and I ended taking off my screen protector but continued using my printer. Bad idea, I had a minor leak and was able to remove the cured resin on the screen. Did I replace the screen protector this time around? Nope! One more leak later and screen is out of commission and I'm out $180 for a replacement lol (Mighty 4K).

Awww nooo. Shoulda coulda woulda!! I have yet to have issues with my Mighty thankfully. Glad it was easy to follow though! Now get a screen protector on that thing hahaa

@@bitzbox that’s crazy. It was a PSM4k? Hopefully they will send you a replacement. I haven’t had that issue thankfully. At least it’s super simple to replace.

great vid and advice. question: I was told that the z axis in the 4k mini is not that amazing and should buy the 8k what say you? :)

Thank you! I have not had any problems other than curing resin on the screen with my Mini 4K! So I can’t personally speak to there being an issue with it - unless you’re talking the Z height.. then yeah it could be taller but it’s “mini”. I would definitely suggest going to the 8k. At this point in time I suggest to anyone starting their printing journey to get nothing less than a 4K screen as now we’re seeing 6k, 7k and yes 8k screens on the market now. I have the 8k mighty preordered and I can’t wait to try it out. The Mini 8k seems to have amazing results.

Currently in the process of fixing the Z on my mini 4k. Seems like lots of people get the same issue with the z binding up kind of close to the vat. I'd say get the 8k or get a mighty 4k since they seem to have had better engineering on their z axis

Replaced the LCD screen, but now when I power on the printer, I get nothing but a blank white screen on the display panel. Any suggestions for how to troubleshoot?

No, but it does introduce some diffraction to the pixels making it *ever so slightly* blurred

How did you get the resin on the screen?

Some resin vats are known to leak due to their construction. However, in this case I was being careless and ran prints after some failed prints without checking the vat for debris and it pierced the FEP film. So I had resin leaking onto the screen and curing. Not fun! Always check your FEP film and resin vat between prints.

@@ZaneMorganCrafts An Anycubic Photon Mono SE. Seemed like a good choice. More expensive than some, but easy to set up and good reviews. 2K printing isn't the best, but a 4K upgrade seems likely from them sometime in the future.

That is for sure a great choice! I like to recommend Anycubic machines to beginners because they are the most popular so they have the most support!

Hallo!)))) I'm from Ukraine, my English is bad))). I have sonic 4k, one guy broken it, liquid was everywhere. I cleaned, but the lense (glass upper lights) have plastic after illumination. I can't find the name of this part ((((

I’m not sure that you can order it, but I would recommend sending an email to Phrozen’s website and ask if you can get a replacement glass.
