Is it as difficult as it looks.

oh, you were able to do all of that from the top? This is an R53 with an automatic transmission. Models with manuals have a heat exchanger on them. The two hoses will need to be disconnected. I'm going in!

Have you still got the skin left on your knuckles lol. My leak is either the oil filter gasket or the oil cooler gaskets. I'll replace both, I'm not looking forward to this at all. BTW, I've heard there's just enough room to change the oil filter gasket without removing the pipes to the oil cooler.

@@fraggit just replaced my oil filter housing, with the three new gaskets. It's doable from the top, but you have to know what you're doing. I ended up dropping the subframe so I can better see what I'm doing (and had other things to fix anyway). Separate the coolant hoses from the heat exchanger, the other side is probably seized. It may be tricky to get the pliers in there to press in the hose clamps and move them away, then put them back - that was the most frustrating part of the job.

@@CTPAYC2323 Thanks for the tips. I'll probably end up dropping the subframe because I need to work on the power steering leak as well lol. Then I may as well change the rubbers, etc, etc. Good job it's not my daily car.
