In this video I show you how to replace (and rebuild) the battery pack in a CyberPower 1285AVR UPS.
Here's a link to the battery pack wiring diagram I made to help one of the viewers in the comments: image.ibb.co/n...
Here is a list of the items used:
Philips head screwdriver
Complete battery pack (If you don't want to rebuild yours) amzn.to/2Vhw5av
(2) 12V 9AH SLA batteries (If you DO want to rebuild yours) amzn.to/2RPcoom
Packing tape (optional)
Scissors (optional)

Great job! Best video of the removal of the front panel. I have three CyberPower UPS that I bought about one yer apart from Costco. The first died after about 10 years, and I will now replace the batteries In my 1350VA (CSTR1300) with Mighty Max from Amazon ($35).

Thank you for the upload. You just helped me to easily save some cash AND what (IMO) was an expensive UPS when we bought it. We have the exact same model as yours and it has served us well for about 6 years. Well worth fixing in my opinion and at the cost of only $42 to fix it! I see Office Depot office Max has them on clearance for about $140. That's a good deal

This IS the first video I could find that actually showed how to take the batteries apart and put them back together. All other videos expected me to understand the "how to" on my own, even though this IS the only part of the remove and replace that anyone really needs. Enjoy!

There is no need to disconnect the front panel connector as part of the battery replacement process. Just set the unit on it's side and swing the front panel out of the way. The battery assembly will slide out and back in just fine.

except the directions that came with the unit had it as a definite step.maybe to prevent an overload if I didn't place my batteries on the right terminal?

Thanks, very helpful and money-saving video! I tried to buy the individual batteries from your link so you’d get a little money but their cart wasn’t working when I tried to check out. I ended up buying “Mighty Max Battery 12V 8Ah UPS Battery” from Amazon, a two-pack costs $35 with free shipping from seller (not Amazon). Batteries arrived quickly and the UPS works!

Pretty easy to figure out how the wires were connected since the smallest wire is the one connecting both batteries together(series). Plus parallel wiring would have required 4 wires 😉

I suppose UPS manufacturers would rather you buy replacement batts from them so they can make their huge markup on them. Most 12v8ah batteries like these, which are used in low voltage systems like alarms, etc. cost about $20 each from alarm distributors. I have a cyberpower cst135 which apparently had its batteries go bad and I need to replace them, but their support site says they're not available yet. I'd rather use a pair of Yuasa NP7-12 or whatever is the equivalent of what's in there.

@DIYNexus
@DIYNexus 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, generally if you can find an exact physical match (size, terminals, still 12V) that has a higher amperage, then you can use them in the UPS. In this case, it's tough to find much higher than 8AH in this form factor.

I once used external cell tower batteries of the proper voltage and just extended the red/black cables to reach it. Not as portable, but sure did increase the power off duration.😃
