Replacing Railroad Crossing Gate Lights

Where do the lights get the ground or negative polarity from. I assume the positive is coming through the 3 pins from the cable

It is not like vehicles with single negative and 2 alternating positives. The tip gate light also runs on those 3 wires so it is compromised of one positive, a negative and a contact that flips between both positive and negative. Eventually I plan on making a video on how crossing lights operate.

These lights weren’t holding up the way I wanted so they got replaced with brand new ones.

Is their a top or bottom of a gate, besides the part with the cast iron peace and the tip? Does it matter where the stripes are pointing (up or down) for angled striped gates?

The old ones were Reco LED the new ones NEG LED?
