Replacing Rear Tire On My Gotrax Rival GXL V2 Electric Scooter (Inflatable to Solid)

Got an air leak from the rear tire. So I decide to replace it. I chose to go with the solid tire. Easy to do.

Im over 200lbs. Would u recommend the rubber tire instead? My tube deflated assuming im over the weight limit. Also i dont want to keep having to inflate the tires when they deflate or pop from riding, bumps and hot / cold temp changes

Yes I would recommend getting the solid tires. Just know it will make your ride a bit more stiff but it will greatly reduce your down time inflating or replacing the inflatable tires.

I Actually Have A Go trak GXL Electric Scooter. Works Great But Handlebar Bolts Keep Coming Loose!! I Believe It Is From It Have No Shocks On It An When Getting Up Onto Curbsides An Lil Bumps I Am Having To Pull Up On The Handlebars To Help Do So.. But Besides That - This Device Is Top Notch.. Reaches Top Speed Of 15.5 MPH. Half That Speed Up Hill's An About 22.5 DownHills . I Bought Mine For 175$ On The Street. But I Got A Truly Wicked Deal.. As These Are Not Cheap!! Amazon Asking 450$ For The One I Have Now. Great Video Actual Will Help With Future Issues Should I Have Any. Thank You Are Sharing.

yes you can do this to the front tires as well. i'm sure bike shops can change these tires for you if you want.

I showed you my technic with the heat gun. My struggle was that I just used hot water and soaked the solid tires like it was instructed but that did not work. So save yourself the struggle use a heat gun and lube. Good luck!

teshayla larry it’s good to just have a set of Allen wrenches when you do it. I can’t remember what size exactly but I believe it was a 2.5mm on the outside cover and a 5mm for the inside

It’s 165lbs per tire, so 330 total, but going full speed over the little humps when you transition from street to sidewalk adds to the pressure on the tires significantly.

I just found them on Amazon. The mirrors would be best if they are attached at the ends on the handle bars. If you get a short bar extension you’ll be able to attached a phone or action cam easier.

The stock inner tube comes with slime already in it. The hole on this tire was big. I'm sure slime would not do to fix it.

I would recommend air tires if you're looking for a smoother ride. Solid tires seems unforgiving on rough roads.

It's tougher than it looks. 2 of my screws was already kinda stripped so I'm f'ed in getting them out. Never tried removing the screws before so they must have come factory made like this. (Update I had to buy a screw remover kit and use a powerful electric drill to remove them. It was very challenging but with the new screws it's easy. Getting the tire off the rim is the hard part now)

Just used SPEEDOUT kit from Home Depot to get out a couple factory screws that were stripped. Go slow and it works

"Easy to do"? Really? In my experience - Its nearly impossible to install a solid tire on an 8.5 inch GOTrax rim. First, you gotta deal with the Allen screws holding down the cover, being WAY over torqued from the factory. I had to use a speed out bit to extract these after the heads stripped completely using an Allen wrench... And then, you skipped over the part where you have to boil the rubber for an hour, then struggle for 2-3 with pry bars, zip ties, lubricants, clamps etc and totally destroy the rim trying to stretch a solid tire over it. I spent 3-4 hours on this... and eventually just gave up! Took it to a bike shop, they could not do it, took it to a motorsports shop, they could not do it. Its virtually impossible. I would consider replacing the engine in my truck an easier job than this tire change!

Replaced both tires on mine with solid rubber. 💁‍♂️ leverage, lube, and some muscle and an extra set of hands is key. It's not easy but it's doable.

Yeah these were stripped out for me too. I bought it with a flat back tire and the guy who sold it to me didn't tell me. I see why he got rid of it now. He stripped the ridiculous Allen key covers at the back......it's utterly useless now because of the tiny socket. Horrible scooter.

I had to take my scooter to a machine shop to remove the tire bolts. They couldn't even do it with personal tools and had to do it with a machine

Put the new tires in the oven for a few minutes get them nice & warm & you will save yourself a half hr

This video is the worst!! You cut out the hardest part of the entire project!! I tried doing this stupid scooter tire for 2 hours now and have gotten nowhere, these scooters suck and I’m just going to ride a bike instead.
