Good video. I like the way the tape helps waterproof the seam between the plywood pieces. The best.
@AlliedRoofers11 жыл бұрын
As stated above we are providing services in the south florida area. With this being said those 6" strips are encouraged by the insurance industry to prevent water from seeping in between the seams of the plywood in case the roof is removed during storms. This is offered to all our clients so they may benefit from the discounts offered by the insurance companies.
@qmax228611 жыл бұрын
That's why you check local forescast before you open a roof, plywood needs to breath in case of water penetration this system will cause mold and will damage wood decking. Gaps between plywood allow water to get out and dry area while proper repair is done. As stated water staying for longer time between deck and shingles will not benefit homeowner will benefit only you as a contractor because real issues will be noticed probably after warranty expire.

I have a small buckle along the top of a plywood sheet between the joists so there is nothing to screw it to to push it down. I had to watch this video twice. Once just to watch it and the second time to see what all the comments were about. There are dozens of ways to tear off a roof, this video shows this company doing it their way. Ice and Water shield may not be required in the area of the country that they are in. Northern Roofers must have ice and water shield installed 24 inches into the heated wall. The strips on the plywood I don't understand but insurance companies lowering rates for doing something like that, why not then for your homeowner. I can see the reasoning during a hurricane and the roof gets blown off how that could help to prevent extensive damage to the inside. Our company is all about safety even on the 4/12 roof pitch. The newest rule is anything over 6 ft. from the ground. However, if you look at the date of this video it was shot before that became law. I loved the days that you didn't have to wear them on a walkable roof. Now, the homeowners have to pay for unnecessary labor.

What is the name/brand of the product used to tape the seams? This is the only video I have seen where the decking seams are taped. I really like the look of that -- its almost like the waterproofing you'd do on a shower. Someone else mentioned heavier felt is all that's required, but it appears to me that this joint tape is exactly what you want. Note: I am not a roofer, just a guy learning from videos.

Question, does the insurance pay for the removal of the gutters? I know in NC they pay for gutter guards. Let me know, intrested in why you take that extra long step.
@lornaswick72194 жыл бұрын
I live in Indiana. I just had new gutters installed with leaf filters. The roof I have on my home is supposed to be only 6 years old. I have experienced some minor leaking. In order for someone to tear off old roof. And replace, I would be afraid for roofing installer to remove gutters/guards. In case it would cancel the warranty on guttering and guards.

We just completed demolition in the roof of a home that was in real bad shape, we put the beams on yesterday and replaced the damaged insulation. It's funny to see the difference as women, we are always asking one another, if we need anything and passing items back and forth, two of us always have snacks handy and one girl make lunch daily for all the team and I see that the men are more independent.
