Replacing Tail Light Lens and Bulbs in the Pontiac Firebird. Surprise Paint Detail at the end!

Replacing these housings is a surprisingly simple process. This same process should be the same for any of the 4th Gen F-Body cars (93-02 Firebird, Trans Am, and Camaro)
Also came across a bit of a surprising detail about the paint in the process. Funny what you find when you start digging.

I am really enjoying this Firebird series. These are beautiful cars. It is amazing how expensive these tail lights are on eBay, especially for the 1998-2002 honeycomb ones.

Enjoyed seeing this repair! I had to replace a taillight on my 94 Formula back in the day. Bought a matching pair on E-bay and sold the extra taillight. I always liked the look of these taillights.

If you've been getting red paint as soon as you hit the finish with sand paper someone must've done a MAACO job on the car. GM hasn't messed around with single stage finishes in YEARS. (Like since the late 80's) It's a cheap fix for a solid color, but I still prefer a base/clear for everything. Show cars used to get super high gloss with solid colors by sanding between coats with a fine grit to get it flat...then final coats with a finish sand and polish. (That's where the term "color sanding" originated)

yeah, one in each intake port. Only thing better than a KITT light bar...is TWO KITT light bars. Right? Wait, maybe not.
