We Cut out the old rusty disaster floor pan in the previous video and now we get a nice new one tacked in place! We also tackle that inner sill and uncover yet more rust on this Disaster Datsun! It was nice to get that big hole in the floor filled with nice new metal, but we still have a lot to go!!!
If you do enjoy the video, please consider hitting that like and subscribe button, it really does help us out a lot!

Would'nt be surprised if the Disaster Datsun weighs 300Kg lighter after all this work. Absolutely stunned at the simple layer on layer of past repairs where nobody could be bothered to do it properly or could afford to! Nice job, keep going as its not so much a disaster now but a phoenix rising from the ashes due to your hard work and craftsmanship. Well done.

Good job. I am a DIY. I enjoy your work, and have learn a ton of things, but if i was working, i would have done certain things different. Such as brace the body on top, and not inside. That means that you could have made the new panel strait. If i am wrong, let me now, so i can learn much more. Thanks for doing what you do. Love it. ❤❤❤

Thank you very much! And yes, you do have a good point, however we want to retain as much of the original as possible. Also a straight line of weld is not as strong as what we did in this instance. Pretty clear by now that there won't be much factory steel left in it, might as well convert the roof & rear end to a 240Z and raise the value 🤣 On more serious notes, old Japanese cars actually have a stronger design than people give them credit for, the typical "accident in parking lot and you're dead" joke isn't anything I would readily associate with a car that survived that much rust & triple-stacked repair panels without collapsing.

Thanks for the comment, the elements I left in were all rust free, they were just dirty and had primer on. If you check out the next Datsun video in 2 weeks, I will show the good metal as I will be welding the inner sill and floor pan in properly.

Did you check to see if this car had a “do not resuscitate” medallion in the glove box… cos it certainly doesn’t look like it would have an “organ donor” card either 😂

Wouldn't it be better to sink it into an acid pond to get rid of paint, filler and rust in just one go, maybe two?

With all the cars and all the work that needs to get done you have in the shop..youre going to have to put out more than 2 videos a week...at this rate the disaster datsun videos will go on to 2024...lol
@yorkshirecarrestoration
@yorkshirecarrestoration Жыл бұрын
Many of the cars you see will not appear on the channel, only a select few. Work is done off camera for other cars. And yes, the Disaster Datsun will certainly run into 2024 :D. I have a full time job in civils so I only work on it 1 day every week (on my weekend)
