Hey everyone! My Forester was running lean when in Park so I decided to replace my fuel filter (idling was fine). For now, it looks like this fixed the problem. I don't believe the filter was ever replaced (the fuel cover was very dirty before I decided to start filming). Thanks for watching!

So what do you guys think about these "lifetime" fuel filters?! Who else just decided to replace them anyways?

My 07 forester throws a code p1400, "fuel tank pressure control solenoid" the check engine light comes on. Do u think charging the fuel filter will solve it
@donhorn9170

"Lifetime?" Must be some urban legend. My 2007 Forester maintenance booklet says fuel filter should be changed at 60 months or 60K miles, and more often in extremely hot or cold areas.

@@heatwavesound.djezee909 Sorry about the delay - KZbin just notified me of this comment! I did a bit of search into it and it looks like the CEL code is typically related to bad connection to the solenoid connector. I'd check for corrosion and/or loose connection before dabbling with fuel filter (hopefully not too late)

@@davechangauto well I wouldn't say it's too late because I did change the gas pump and filter and that pump really needed to have been changed. Didn't take care of the light but I bought a obd scanner and found the problem to be my Fuel tank pressure control solenoid. Your research could be right also because it could also be an electrical issue where the pressure control solenoid isn't getting power. Thanks and control the good work on your channel.

I changed to a upgraded fuel pump and change the little baggy on the pump and the fuel filter in the engine bay. Didn’t realize there was another filter.

Hey Jumpshot! This is only applicable for 2006-2008 when Subaru moved it to the fuel tank. Previous years had it at the bay!

@@davechangauto same, I live where theres a lot of narrow winding roads, but its a compromise im willing to live with. Think im gonna lower mine rather than lift it tho. Im planning to go to impreza subframes and gearbox mounts, I think the stock impreza height would be ideal for me. Thats easily the best thing about a forester though, you can actually make it whatever you want. Overland, track weapon, rally car, family wagon, literally a blank canvas. Its amazing that they dont have a bigger following.
@davechangauto
@davechangauto 2 жыл бұрын
@@Nbomber I 100% agree and that's also what I love about the Forester community! There's such a wide variety of owners (stance/overland/stock/track, etc) that enjoy my content and I can't really say the same for any other vehicle out there When I first bought the Forester, I was leaning towards switching to Impreza struts for a moderate drop as well - decided to try something different with a lifted Fozzy! @as for the following of this car - that's exactly what I'm trying to promote. I wanted to show the community that these vehicles are great, practical, reliable (and/or maintenance!), and a pioneer in the crossover segment. Hey, if it works - the value of my SG will go up too!

@@davechangauto thats an interesting way of thinking about it tbh. I suspect the value of these will start creeping up soon. Im seeing more and more of them online. One model that id love to get hold of is the one with the cream leather interior, but have only ever seen them in automatic (which is the best gearbox for offroading it seems) Man, id love to have both tho, a lifted one, and a lowered one.

Friend a question can give me information about the wheels and if they work for subaru forester 2009
@davechangauto
@davechangauto 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Lo! The USDM SH Forester (2009-2013) has the same lug pattern as the SG Foresters so this wheel should work. You'll want to make sure your SH Forester has a lug pattern of 5x100. Hoping this helps - thanks!

Is this the only fuel filter on the vehicle? Because mine doesn't have on under the hood
@davechangauto
@davechangauto 11 ай бұрын
Hey Toast, that's correct unfortunately. The 06-08 SG Foresters have them in the fuel tank. The 03-05 have em under the hood. It's pretty simple to remove it and then splice it under the hood - I just opted to keep it OEM to prevent messing anything up

Also, one thing I would have done to aleviate paranoia. Id would have run the car and kept an eye on the fuel lines before putting the cover back on. Just in case, but looks like it went fine anyway.

Why not disconnect the fuel relay? Much quicker?
@davechangauto
@davechangauto 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Levi! What I unplugged in the beginning is technically the fuel relay. From my research and understanding, SG Foresters did not have a separate fuse/relay that was easily accessible from under the hood and dashboard. Please let me know otherwise, it'll be a good idea to let reddit and the forums know - thanks!
