Rear support strap on my 96 diesel Ram 2500 rusted through after only 25 years and 340,000 miles. I don't know if anything other the the front strap and good luck were holding the tank in. A Harbor Freight ratchet strap stood in for the steel strap until I got home 500 miles later. It's still in there, but parts are on order. Brilliant thinking, Dodge, supporting a fuel tank with thin, steel straps exposed to road salt. Thanks, Kickinpony.66, for showing me how much fun I'm going to have in a few days.

Thank you so much for sharing your video. This helped me tackle my repair. The tip about using the bottle jack to get the strap in place was priceless.

being lazy like I am, I think since that strap don't look real bad, I would have left it on until it rusted through.

:) lol Well... I'm the type of person who can't "leave a job 1/2 finished". It's just the way I'm wired. Even before I joined the US Navy, and was trained to be a Submarine Electronics Technician; I couldn't leave something un-finished. I know there is a certain degree of "done" for every job, but I just can't seem to do 1/2 of the task. Besides... I don't much like being under my vehicles any more than I have to. So, doing both in one shot is/was the only way. Oh, I discovered I have all sorts of bruises on my back, and side, from the gravel. I kind of look like a Dalmatian, on my right side! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for sharing, my front strap broke. I'm not looking forward to doing this. We still have snow on the ground here making it miserable.

You're welcome, and thanks for watching! Yep, I don't like working in the snow either. I tied the rear of my tank up with a rope, when my rear strap broke.

I install the straps, then load the tank from the other side, lift, and finish up.

Ugh! I try wrapping a tarp around the bottom of your truck, with a heater under it (or blowing in).

similar to my old dodge ram van from 1991 . i had to drop the tank to plastic weld a crack in the tank caused by a bent tank strap. you gotta be very careful with those plastic tanks. If you crack them by wrenching on them or levering them you have a lot harder time than with a strap. Anyway I fell for you. Going under myself soon to put it all back together kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXW4gqyXotadaMk and kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqOWiJupm6mJf7c
